Lucas speculated to sign with Dolphins

Panthers cut Lucas, who could be an answer for Dolphins

Another experienced cornerback hit the NFL free-agent market Wednesday when the Carolina Panthers cut starter Ken Lucas in a salary-cap maneuver as they try to clear space to help with keeping defensive end Julius Peppers. The move saves Carolina $2.375 million against the cap. Lucas could be an answer for the Dolphins as they seek a cornerback opposite Will Allen. See Lucas interception highlights

Where there is Smoke there is Fire!

I wonder how cheap hell come.

It looks like that was written before we signed Green. I would be very surprised if we added Lucas.

Isn't this just speculation on the part of the "Examiner"? They don't seem to provide a real connection - that he visited, or called, or whatever. Just sayin' the Phins have a need he could fill.

With the signing of Green, it seems less likely we'd go after him. Though I'd be happy if we did...

Seems like total speculation to me. I would've preferred him over Green, but Green is younger and really hasn't tapped out in terms of potential. The last piece in our secondary is just adding another CB through the draft and maybe a safety in the later rounds for depth.

We could sign him if he goes for the savings carolina got for him..if he plays for like 2.5-3 mil..we could sign him..

Look we said Bell would not resign when Miami signed Wilson, we said Miami would not sign a C after we got Grove and now it seems because we signed Green you guys are going to start saying the same thing. I think Green was a deoth signing the draft is not as deep as corner as all have said. Miami could make a play for Lucas.

They could get Lucas, I'm sure that's possible, but the article you posted doesn't say anything of a connection at all..it's just speculation.

I changed the title for you guys like that you can all feel better.

I think the guy could be a good signing and could come cheap. This is the time in FA where Miami is supposed to be more involved. Adding quality depth so we will see.

March 12 8:25 A:M

Lucas may yet happen.

Eric Green is by no means a starter. He may very well end up backing up Gibril Wilson at FS.

Green's contract will indicate what they expect of him.

the Examiner article is dated March 11

I am guessing that Lucas will be a Titan or a Niner

I don't see Eric Green being what dissuades us from going after a corner who is actually capable of starting in this league. Unless of course we gave Green a ludicrous Wilfordian contract.

I am sure they will make inquiries about him and call him just like we did with Bodden, McFadden and Bartell..
But I don't know if we will sign him, if he comes cheap then it would be a good signing for our secondary however I'd prefer to draft a CB (like Butler) in the first two rounds rather than signing a 30 year old corner..

As crazy as it sounds, they could do both...sign Lucas and draft a guy. There are only 2 corners on the roster right now that I would put money down to be part of the team opening day...Will Allen and now Green. Everyone else could be cut.
