Although very raw and prone to stupid penalty mistakes, his play at LT has been somewhat surprising during pre-season. With Jake Long coming back, im hoping Sparano has had some preconceived idea that all along he planned on moving Murtha to RT, allowing a larger interior of Incognito, Pouncey & Carey to deal with the large 3-4 NT in AFC east.

Is my glass half full or is it blind 'fin-loving' faith?:ponder:
 
He could be a short term answer, but the position needs to be upgraded at some point. I'm not sure how good he is run blocking either and I think you generally want your RT to be a pretty good run blocker.
 
If that was his plan, it would have made more sense to play Colombo at LT and Murtha a RT all pre-season.

Maybe the performance of the two will alter the plan, but I doubt it with the way Sparano was promoting the commitment to consistency on the line.
 
Had we put Colombo at LT we would also need a new QB. Hopefully this was the plan all along, although Murtha is hurt and not expected to play this Thursday.
 
Really? The guy sucks balls. All he is really good at is holding. If he is a practice squad guy that needs a few years to develop, by all means put him there. Murtha starting would be the death rattle for the season...

i think he gets hurt to much, Quality backup at RT and LT just doesn't seem to be healthy a lot.
 
i honestly rather have him in there than columbo
 
carey needs to lose 20 pounds and move back to RT before i kill myself. colombo could not be worse against edge rushers ... it's just not possible.
 
Murtha at any position is only going to be the answer to who gave up another sack lol
 
Sparano isn't replacing Colombo until he s forced to. The guys a "closer". Ala Porter/Wake situation, Sparano will be the last one to realize Colombo sucks. With that said, Martha sucks and on top of sucking he makes stupid penalties far too often.
