I always liked this guy, and he is gonna shock some people this year. According to Sporano, he has gotten MUCH better, where he can play and not think.

He's gonna lead the team in tackles you can "HEAR." He is going to have a "SPECIAL" year,

He wants to get to heaven, and is gonna raise some hell.
 
He is a core component of our run defense, but can bring some unexpected pass rush as well. Quarterbacks should be scared of Matt Roth because he's Matt Roth, angry linebacker running right towards you. He's not going to light the world on fire like JP or JT, but he can stomp on the ashes our more established rushers leave behind.

I figured JT would start when we re-signed him, but Roth's value is seriously underestimated. He will start opposite Joey Porter, only replaced on passing situations.
 
I agree. Always thought Saban messed him up for a bit, playing him at end in the 3-4. They beefed him up too much and he lost some of that quickness off the edge that made watching his Iowa clips enjoyable.
 
I guess we'll find out how far he's progressed when the Jets send Leon Washington on a sweep to his side this season. Last year, he was too slow and beefy to stop him from scoring an easy one the first time around.
 
Everytime I picture the guy its either his face after the Rivers sack or him with lil man arms trying to reach a run to the outside.
He is very serviceable
 
Matt Roth has amazing attitude, he's also really stout on the run. He'll probably be our starting SOLB again this year, Taylor will replace him in passing situ's also spelling Porter with some Wake backing up Porter too. I don't see reps for Mr. Anderson anymore, FA buster.
Matt will get quicker in coverage this year, he needs to cover TE's better, he's excellent stopping the outside run and is good at disrupting the QB, although he misses sometimes becuase he's comming so fast. I think him being coached up once more at the position will help him tremendously.

I have doubted Roth in the past, but one thing i don't question is his motor, attitude and passion for wrecking people.

That was last year. His first as a linebacker, and it appears that he is playing the position more instinctively. That should be expected given his NFL experience. I expect him to play better.
 
Why is anyone suprised that he is busting his a**?

Roth is in the last year of his contract.
No wonder he is trying to play harder.

Duh

From his agent:
“Matt Roth is also in the last year of his contract and would like to sign a long term extension with the Dolphins before the season.”

Ditto on that it just logical plus the contract year helps too!
 
i dont think the contract has much to do with his performance. he's a good player getting better.
