Every game the Dolphins choked in the early half of this decade seemed to be a result of these two screwing up real badly. They were decent cornerbacks, and Surtain was above average actually. If they were so highly touted, why wasn't Madison re-signed? Dolphins got some value out of Surtain actually, but his career didn't do too well after the Dolphins.

Decent cornerbacks:crazy:

Ask Peyton Manning who were the two best cornerbacaks in the league when the Colts were still in the AFC East.He said it repeatly that Madison and Surtain were the best duo in the league.

And why hasn't Miami resigned Madison?:rolleyes2: Since when did the NFL start an old timers league?

:lol2: Worst opinion ever.

Surtain and Madison played press coverage and were very good at it. Thing is when you are left on an island you are bound to get beat sometimes. Pat and Sam were possibly the best CB tandem in the league when they were here. I'm not sure what you watched but it certainly wasn't our pair of shutdown corners.

We really must be running out of things to talk about leading up to the season opener. What are you talking about? Sam Madison was let go because he was getting too long in the tooth and Surtain was traded because Dick Satan thought we would get more value in a trade than through his performance on the field. As the other poster alluded to, Madison and Surtain were phenomenal for us. Our late season collapses were exactly that, our late season collapses. JT, Zach, Junior Seau, Ogunleye, Bowens, the entire defense was equally culpable for our December swoons. Not to mention the fact that we had Jay Fiedler at QB. For all of his heart, he just wasn't talented enough to lead our offense. Don't try to make Sam and Patrick the scapegoats.

That's just Blasphemy... And on top of that, you're 100% wrong. What else you got?? Marino shouldn't be in the hall of fame?? Was Shula a terrible coach??

In their heyday they were a good combo. As Madison got older I felt he took more chances and ended up costing us some big plays. Surtain I liked all the time. I always felt he was the stronger of the pair.

:pop:I asked Howie Long about the duo when they were both still here. He said HANDS DOWN THE BEST DUO IN THE NFL.

Are you sure you watched the games? They both made big plays a lot more often than mistakes. Maybe you are just a closet Pats fan hiding out on a Fins website, b/c there is no way anyone can claim that they were not an elite duo!!!

No offense, but you shouldn't be allowed an opinion. :foundout:
