The word around Phins HC is that Madison has changed his mind and is now willing to re-work his contract. I think this is great because even though Sam isn't what he used to be, he's average at worst. This would relieve Miami from having to sign an expensive Ty Law or Charles Woodson or Deshae Townsend and with a healthy Will Poole and a first round Jimmy Williams or Michael Huff, our secondary is going to be significantly better. If Madison restructures his contract, should Miami go out and pick up a VET DB anyway?

Well it's sorta old news. But not too old.

Sam Madison may retire as a fin yet. As for getting a veteran DB, no. Sam Madison is already our veteran cornerback (if he restructures) and Lance Schulters is our veteran safety.

I wouldn't mind having Madison staying here for 1or 2 more years, granted he takes a pay cut, makes a good backup CB, that we can use for the nickel or dime package on 3rd and long or 3rd and short situations

I hope he gets restrucured to like minimum salery or sumthin, there are so many better Corners in the league who we can get to replace him, plus we need the cap space to improve next year

I doubt he will take the min. However he is also not a Backup CB and thats a insult and he would rather leave. he is still a good starter I just think is lack of being able to come up to the line and tackle is what hurts him.

Hes better than avearge. Hes still a solid starting corner.

Not true. He had a pretty good yr. There are not "so many better corners" out there.

I love Sam, He has been great for years. I think if we can keep him, then still draft a few young guys to help out our secondary. He would be great to help mentor them, and in case of injuries

Madison wants to stay it seems cause now the Phins are predicted to do well. If Sam stays, and the Brees and Law situation works out for us, we'll be looking great heading into the 06 season.
