MAdison supposedly wanted to stay a phin

i wish we could have kept him. maybe after everything blows over, we can sign him to a smaller deal, but i doubt that

he had to be cut with there being no new CBA yet and us having to be under the cap by tonight

I don't think it would have made a difference, although he should have said that in the beginning.

HE DID! I remember a few days before this, on FInheaven front page, it said that Madison was willing to restructure. I dont know, I'm guessing by that-Saban was planning on maybe getting rid of him already. -and maybe no deal just made it a necessesity.

IMO - it just came down to him not being the type of player that Nick Saban wants at CB. If there was a real desire to keep him, I think that they could have got it done.

Didn't Saban make comments last year about us not being physical enough, or not tackling well enough on the edges??

Don't forget guys, restructure does not reduce your salary. Restructuring rearranges your salary into different form that is more cap friendly in the short term. Some around here think Sam offered to take a pay cut per se. I doubt that he was willing to take a pay cut. Also, at the end of the season, he made it clear he was not going to take a pay cut and he was not going to restructure....if he changed his mind a few days ago, it is because he was seeing the writing on the wall that he would not get much on the open market with no CBA NOT because he just wants to stay a Dolphin.

We need guys like Thomas and Taylor to restructure but guys like madison are not worth what they are making....they need to take a pay cut and sometimes the only way to make that happen is for them to see their worth on the open market and possibly resign them when both sides see that open market value.

He'll be back. Without the new CBA, the team had no other choice but to do this. Sam understands this.

What? He's been a fin his entire career.... What's not to buy about this story LMAO...

I just think its an attempt to get sympathy. I think Sam was a great player and an all-time great Dolphin, but I dont believe he was being as cooperative as this article makes it seem.
