I'm interested to hear how many of you think that these guys would be good trade material in the offseason.

Madison has been with Miami for years, so it would be a little sad to see him go. But he is not playing a big enough role for Miami anymore. His tackling skills have dropped off (not that he was ever a great tackler), and I can't remember the last time he had an INT. He still has good ability in coverage and knocking the ball down. He also has LOADS of knowledge to pass on to younger players. There must be a team out there that needs a veteran CB. We may be able to get something good in a trade for him.

Williams already had his big days with Miami before the retirement. He still has some good years in him at RB. But Miami has Ronnie Brown now, and that young kid is going to be something special. It is a luxury to have both Ronnie and Ricky this year. But right now, there are too many other areas that need help to keep both around next year. Ricky has a questioable past, but there may be a team out there who is still interested in trading for him. He will never get enough carries in Miami with Ronnie around, so he may want to go anyway.

Both of those players are veterans. And there are alot of teams out there that need a few veterans on their roster. I think Miami could improve, or add, positions to the 2006 draft if they trade these guys. What do you think?

I'd keep Madison, and Williams.

What's Madison making next year ? If it's cap friendly to trade him, then maybe.

you wont trade madison. he might be average, and a #2 CB, but you would have to replace him with a high priced FA. and you also have to sign a FA #1 CB. it just doesnt make sense.

williams still has not done enough to get other teams interested. some eagle fans might say they want williams, but the organization is smart enough to not want him.
did you see him get rocked by that defensive back sunday? no team will offer the fins anything worth a damn. ricky is worth more to the fins than the very minor thing a team would offer in a trade.

i think both players will be on the fins roster next season.

madison is worth nothing because he does nothing.

Have you seen reggie howard play? he is the one that does nothing. madison may not get the picks anymore, but he doesnt get burned much either. he can shut down decent wr's. if we didnt have him on the team right now the secondary would be a complete disaster.

Madison is too old and over the hill to have any value, not to mention he's not cheap. I doubt many teams would take a look at him. Of course he hasn't been solid in about 3 years, i wont miss if he was gone, plus our secondary couldn't get much worse.....

Madison has little to no trade value in part because of his contract - 6th or 7th.
Saban will go hard after CB talent in the offseason, which will lead to Madison being waived. Hopefully we will be able to resign him cheaper as a nickel package option.

Williams has not shown value to date, Saban will not move him with out proper compensation, which of course we can't get until his shows more consistency.
Hopefully he will do that by end of year and we could pull a 2nd or 3rd out for
him. More likely he'll be Ronnie's back up next year.

I think Travis Daniels shows we can pop a 4th rounder in at CB to replace Madison. Saban has a very good angle on College talent and I don't see a FA as the solution to his replacement.

Sam Madison on Sunday versus the Patriots:

Passes thrown at him in coverage - 3
Passes completed on him - 1 (16 yards to Branch on a 3rd and 23, a quick snap play where the whole defense was'nt set.)

He made a great play on a deep pass to Bethel Johnson.
He made a great tackle on a screen pass that could have gotten more if he had not made the play.

This is pretty typical of a Sam Madison day yet every damn week someone makes a thread bashing Sam...yet every week he plays pretty good football.

ricky doesn't and will not want to play for another team. he likes his situation here. he doesn't need to do anything more than take a few carries a game. he doesn't want to be a star anymore, he just wants to earn his pay. which hes doing. im fine with that.

I really hope we keep Ricky... I dont think we will ever be offered what he's worth.. plus add into the mix his instability (long vacations) a trade with him would be conditional and odds are we would lose because he probably wouldnt be happy moving to another team. I think its pretty apparent that saban has worked on a decent relationship with Ricky. Figure this... for each year RB splits carries with Ricky adds another 6 months to RB's career...and in this day and age its not unusual for a RB to go down mid-season... what do we do then? fact is Ricky is pretty darn cheap to us and probably will be for atleast one more year.

Thank you, Madison may not have the great stats he use to, Im sure he has even droped off, but in a position where we are lacking talent why give up our best player at that position. Even if we wanted to trade him the value in return would not even be worth it.

Thank goodness someone else has noticed he still plays well. I just cannot understand why people are always complaining about him. All he does is go out and shut down the other team's WR. Maybe it's because he doesn't get the picks anymore or something.
