What are our main needs are we look to the draft? We will probably be picking around 16-18 again, so that will leave us out of probably being able to move up much to get someone we covet.

I think #1 needs to be a big play WR. We need size and someone who can go. Someone who is a red zone threat. Cooper and Parker will probably both be off the board. I think the person we need to get, though he has tons of off the field red flags, is Dorial Green-Beckham (if he decides to enter the draft). Dude is 6-5, 225 and can go. He is unlike anyone we have on the roster right now. I think we can let Gibson go and we know Wallace, Hartline and Landry will be back. DGB can be a #1, Wallace at the 2, Landry in the slot and Hartline as the 4.

I think our needs looking to rounds 2 and 3 would be at LB and CB, maybe even double down at LB. Injuries or not, we have a glaring need at both positions.

We still need OL help more than anything. Colledge stinks, Satele stinks, Shelley Smith is a decent backup, and we don't have any depth at tackle.

The good thing is that we don't need to blow big money or first round picks on these positions. Just need a pair of serviceable guards and a decent backup swing tackle.

Hard to figure out what the priority in the draft will be until we know who the new coach and GM will be.

If we hire Rex Ryan or Todd Bowles like some want we'll probably have to go defense the first two or three rounds.

Then there are others who think all we need is a QB and we'll be an 11+ win team and no other changes are necessary.

While I believe we made great strides over the past off-season there is much work that still needs 2 be done. In no particular order I believe we need:
2 legitimate linebacker's
2 legitimate secondary pics (safeties or cornerbacks)
2 legitimate offense of lineman pics
beyond that it would be a godsend to get a legitimate tight end on this squad (I'm talking the beefcake prototypical tight ends of today)

There's plenty of work to be done, but at least there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. The 2014 draft was full of high end character players for us. As I see it we need to continue this trend.

This team just doesn't have the depth needed for 17 game season, therefore the last two months of December have been disasters, this year is turning out no different.

OL, LB, CB, DL, WR, TE in that order.

I'm not someone who believes in drafting RBs early, but I think we have to draft a RB relatively early due to it being an extraordinary RB class and we'd have the opportunity to bring in a big time playmaker with our 2nd or 3rd pick. So unfortunately that will limit our ability to draft our two most critical needs which are oline and LBer. This becomes a different challenge if our new DC decides to take us to a 3-4. Hartline, Gibson, Matthews, and possibly Wallace might all not be on the team next year so if a great receiver is available, it should be considered.

If the Fins can get their hands on any kind of elite talent in the first regardless of position then that would be the way to go. OG/C is the very next need.

With that first round pick (likely in the teens somewhere) I'd hope they'd look long and hard at the players on this list, assuming other players are gone:

DeVante Parker
Kevin White
Shaq Thompson
Marcus Peters
Trae Waynes
Todd Gurley

interior line and a swing tackle can be had in the early to mid rounds. Another safety should probably be looked at in the mid rounds as well.

Naw, get Dez and Lynch in FA and be done with it or draft best LB and OL available in first few rounds. Need a receiver somewhere as well.

To early to tell. As I have mentioned in another thread no matter who the coach is (even is Philbin remains) this roster could see close to a 50% churn based on free agents and high priced players that are under performing with team friendly contracts. If a new coach comes in they will look for players that fit the system they want to run.

That's going to take some contract restructuring for some of the higher priced players to have that much turnover. Should be interesting.

Yeah, I agree but guys like Ellerbe, Finnegan, Hartline, Gibson, Starks, Fields, Misi, and even Wake are not performing to the contract hits they would be next year. Unfortunately we are stuck with Wheeler, he is $4.4m on the roster and $4.2m off, so he is here again.
