If we never went 4-12, if Ricky never retired, we never would have had Saban and we never would have had Ronnie - We never would have been in the exciting situatiuon we are in now.

Now that all things Saban has wanted to do are all in place after a superb comeback season the Dolphins are ready to take the next step and its one that we cannot blow. We have the chance to use this off-season to make this team a sure fire candidate for post season football and maybe more.

The thing is, we musnt blow it. We have Ricky Williams, do we keep the Ronnie and Ricky show which looked pretty good or do we use #34 to get a QB or anything else Saban wants.

The thing for me is if we go for someone like David Carr we have to be 110% certain it will pay-off and he will be the future of that postition. If we give up alot and it fails this strong postion we are in now will disappear. Imagine the Ricky and Davis show setting the NFL alight while Carr hits the dirt for another sack, how bad would that be?!

The talk of why did we trade Williams and we should have gone for Rivers etc will be all Dolfans will talk about in what would be a very frsutraing season. I dont want that and i know every other Dolfan doesnt want that either.

But then theres the strong possibiliy Nick gets it right and im sure he will. He made a man who gave up football and started to puff his life away comeback and become a be a key assist in the 9-7 record. He could also be credited with the breakout season Chris Chambers had. What about getting the staff in to produce a better O-line and, well, to be honest i could go on all day.

Lets see how he uses the draft picks, whose going to be the first pick for the Fins this year? Will he trade Williams, he has the chance to finish the jigsaw very quickly and hes only had the job over a year. But like most things....It could all go wrong.

There is always a risk in every move a team makes, whether it is a high draft pick on a 'sure fire' player or a FA pick up or a player trade. So far I have been very impressed with Saban's ability to choose wisely. If he believes he can improve the Fins by trading Ricky for Carr (or whoever else) then I will support him. No coach will be right 100% of the time. So I will give him the benefit of the doubt unless he starts to make bad decisions on a regular basis ala Wanny and Speilman.

You are so right. Even if we would have won one more game the whole out come of the dolphins future would be different.

Yeah, I've been saying the retirement of Ricky Williams started everything. His retirement was the "rock in the water" that caused the ripple effect (4-12 season, Wanny resignation, hiring of Saban...etc.) to everything the Dolphins has become (9-7 season, new coaching staff, Ronnnie Brown, and Ricky coming back at a cheaper price to perform like he never left). Back then, when Ricky quit; who would've thought something so unexpected and so bad, would've turned into something so much better for our team in such a short time.

I bet the Jets, Bills, and Pats fans aren't happy about the outcome anymore.

I disagree. Yes wayne had no clue when it came to maintaining a successful sports franchise, thus turning a blind eye towards wanny's gross incompetence,

but the bottom line was loss of money. Fans wanted wanny gone two yrs prior to his removal, and when it didn't happen they stopped going to games meaning

huge losses in concessions, Phins merchandise sales were down, and most importantly the overall value of the team had a steady decline.

imo wayne had to make a move. Now as far as Saban goes, it was rumored that he watched our situation with great interest so I believe it was going to happen anyway.

I don't know if it was going to happen anyway. If you remember, it almost didn't happen (Saban's hiring). Wayne had to bring his wife with him to Saban's house around Christmas time to talk him into it.

I think i would have to disagree. Yes i am excited about where we are. But last year was like the worst year EVER. I mean we were just so bad. I always thought the team was strong with wanny in 01 and 02

Sometimes you have to take a step back to go forward.
