Malaki Starks S UGA....

Safety is a big need for sure but unless we fix the OL then nothing else will really matter. I'd not go safety at 13 which means grier probably will go safety as he normally does the opposite of anything that makes sense.

So you’re taking a LT at 13? Just to spite a bigger need?

You can draft a starting safety and tight end day 2. In fact, most of the best players at those positions in the NFL were not taken in the 1st. However, the best OL and DL/EDGE prospects will be gone by 48. This team will not win until we learn to build from the trenches out. We can’t run the ball in critical short distance situations and we can’t stop the run when it matters. Guys like Warren and Starks will more than likely have very good football careers, but they are not going to fix the basic issue this team has; we are soft in the trenches.

You can just as easily say that DT and OG are second round positions.

While I value DE more than S, I’m not taking the 5th best DL to spite a “lesser” position, when the Safety has a much higher grade.

Safety cost us as much as any position in 2024.

Who are you taking?
Campbell who might be a guard, Simmons would be nice but it would be so Dolphin-like for him to get hurt again early in his career, so probably looking at Banks or Ersery. I also like Milum but I haven't seen much of him, mostly reading positive stuff though. I wouldn't be upset if TE Warren got picked there.

Banks is a all pro guard in the nfl which is why I want him at 13

I am ok with just about any position as well I just think Starks has a higher grade than those OL.

We are selecting 13th. There will be an elite prospect available from every position.

I caution people who think we only need OG. Jackson has played 10.8 games a year in his career and only has 2 years left on his contract. If an elite OT prospect is there you draft them. Even if they start their career inside, our OT position is in no way set.

I would prefer we trade down and get more picks. Grier never seems to make significant trades draft day though.

I like Starks at 13. You have to defend the middle to start with. Period. One of the issues with taking a G at #13 is salary considerations requires a higher than normal starting salary (#13) then re-sign in 5 years at a higher level. you also have to pay the Tackles comparable ( to a 1st round G) level to have a chance to keep them. IOW, too much salary cap tied up in the OL. Ghost makes sense here, better use of assets grade wise.

Does anyone else think it's a very real possibility, Grier trades our 1st rounder away before the draft?
Possible? Yes. Likely? No. In very few cases does it make sense for either side to do this before knowing who's on the board with their pick. That's a quite different scenario than an in season trade at the deadline.

A real time draft day trade down? That is a bigger possibility, and depending on the return I'm not necessarily against it.

Elite is an undefined and subjective term at best. Then you have to consider many "elite prospects" end up jags or even busts. So saying you can get an elite player at any position at 13 is questionable.

Having said that, I have warmed to the idea of taking a highly regarded OT in rd1.

A few days ago a poster (forget who, but good option to consider) mentioned the possibility of AJ moving inside. I have little doubt he would be a good Guard at this point in his career, and is athletic enough for the zone blocking assignments in the current scheme. Two birds, one stone + a top Oline prospect that you then have the option of using either on the interior or at Tackle.

Watching this amazing tight end play in the postseason makes me want Warren even more. Obviously, there are a number of players who would help. But Warren could be Miami's Travis Kelse.

You are right about guards and safeties.

Warren improves the entire O

We need the ball we need to keep the ball away we need long drives that keep our pathetic pass rush fresh

A one dimensional Guard at #13 is likely not happening an OT who can play across the line would make more sense

Patrick Paul had a very good season and turned out to be a very good idea

Unfortunately the brass picks good players in positions of Need that they Create by selecting soft and injury prone players

Like the injuries to our DE Phillips and Chubb really capped or sealed our potential season even before the injury to Tua

Prior to the Tua injury we barely beat the Jags and had zero ability to get to Josh Allen.

We need to kill the gimmicks hand off from under C from time to time, PA from under C from time to time and kill the horizontal crap period learn the north south game and push the pile

This kind of O travels

lol Dart is a 4th round prospect at best who need 2-3 year on the bench at minimum. Hes Zach Wilson Jr.

Penix and Nix were not projected as #1's yet look at how that draft fell. Watching Dart, I see a bit more than Wilson, mentally tougher. Zach Wilson has the tools just something is wrong with his head it seems.
