I'm 40+ and have watched a lot of football at different levels for many years and the question is does the QB posititon mean that much in todays NFL. I came up in an era were you could win a lot of games with a Tanny. I'm watching Romo who hasn't played all season take his team to a totally different level. Down here in Charlotte I'm watching Cam with a lot less talented set of skill position players putting up 40 pts. If this is the way things are in the NFL we may have to start selling out our draft for that franchise changing QB. No one is giving you a proven one in FA, and you have no idea what is sitting on someone's bench as a backup, so we may have to take a QB in a higher round every year till we find one.

Romo wasnt really that good today. Dallas did notwin because Romo carried them on his back lol
In fact Romo made some big mistakes today that almost cost them the game

Carolina's defense had 5 turnovers. Cam Newton is a ****ing beast. Ted Ginn is deciding to actually play football for the first time.

With Romo, he's a pretty good QB. When you have trash like Weeden and Cassell QB'ing the team, it's easy to see why Dallas was bull**** without Romo.

He wasn't that good, and yet he still made the plays that were the difference in the game, and the presence of a guy who can drive the ball down the field and convert third downs (even the forbidden third and longs) then it opens up the running game.

A "franchise" QB does make a difference. Franchise meaning irreplaceable. Tannehill is not "franchise". Loosing Tannehill would not make this team any worse than what they presently are.

Yes. QB is the most important position in all of sports for more than a few reasons. A half season sample size of the Colts' season that accounts for only one variable and ignores every other factor does not change that fact. If you have a defense and running game like the Seahawks, Bucs, or Ravens had when they won their Super Bowls then you just need a QB who doesn't **** up. Those rare teams aside think about teams that win Super Bowls, what's a commonality?

If people would only realize a screen play is designed and the QB HAS to go there... Then half the plays where that **** is doomed from the start would go towards Lazor, not Tannehill... But no! half the board here approve that **** because it works in madden...

Yep unfortunately as much as it hurts to say Tanny isn't a franchise irreplaceable QB. But that's ok because there are very few of them in this league.

So Andrew luck sucks got it. So why do we always talk about the qb. Since it doesn't matter

Because it's the easiest and most overrated position to place praise or blame and most "fans" of the game these days possess as much knowledge about the team game of football as an 87 yr old trying using the interwebz.

On finheaven no. Qb is not important to winning. In real life hell yea. Dallas3-0 with romo 0-7 without him

Stats are pure BS. Go back and examine those losses without romo and you will see quite a few were lapses by the defense when cassell or weeded had a lead. Try again.

Romo made plays when needed. Great QB play does not necessarily mean slinging the ball 40 times a game for 4 td's, it's about being a playmaker. Every QB is going to get in 3rd and longs but a franchise QB makes those plays. Tanny might have been more effective behind one of those early 2000's teams with Ricky and that Defense with JT and Zach than he is now with a less than average D that we have now.

Yes the QB makes all the difference. It can make a mediocre team good or bad depending on the QB. Romo has the second highest 4th quarter QB rating. Ours has the 36th.
