I am so dam axious to see what moves we make. I'm sick of the speculation, the uneducated opinions and the flat out rumors. I'm not really trying to be negative or anything. I love miami football but the suspense is killin me. I guess its all the potential we have and the Saban factor that makes this offseason different than the others. I know Saban will make the right choices and I thank the lord that wandstedt is gone but the next couple months will make such a huge impact on the organization. Its like a game that goes down to the wire. You love it and hate it at the same time. And I can honestly say , there is no way that any of us REALLY know whats going to happen. But I do know one thing . The next few months will be torture and baseball just don't cut it.

my predictions on f/a we get: brees, t.o, a suitable safey
we cut, zongonia(whatever his name is) , t.jones, boston, howard

Realistically we will be able to afford Brees and Bentley after we make our moves to free up the cap space. Then that will free us up to take Winston Justice with our pick in the draft and Greg Blue with the number 2 to fix the safety/DB situation. The only question mark we would have is the LB situation with Seau most likely leaving.

Yea, I'm anxious as well, but just thought of some things from last offseason...

Last year, when Saban went thru FA and the draft, other than Brown, I wasn't too impressed...I thought, geez...he didn't make much of an impact...where are Carter and Holliday going to play, both were better DE's than tackles...Traylor is too old, a rookie at LCB ?? Jones and Schulters...a little old...Tillman, what has he ever done ??

It turns out I was pretty wrong though...I've said this in other posts, but if Saban adds as much talent to the team this offseason as he did last offseason, it very well could be a special season for us.

My other point is not to get too concerned about the FAs he adds if they aren't all "name" FAs. They'll do a good job...One other comment, last year he had to get all the players, FAs/draftees/current roster players to buy into his system...this year, it'll be just the FAs and draftees. The current players have his respect and seem to love his system already...there's no sell job to be done there...

I don't know that the safety situation is such a problem. Schulters had a very solid season, so hopefully he's back. Tillman played better than he did in Buffalo. Yeremiah Bell played very well. I would have no problems with those 3 guys handling the position next year.

i feel you bro, the best way to handle it is to stay away from nfl websites for a couple days. it seems to actually work to pass the time between deadline dates.

Ain't this just great.

Thats why the offseason sucks man. You really need to have patience. I know I have a hard time waiting for us to make moves. But there's nothing we can do about it, so all we have is Finheaven and each other to make the time go by quicker.

It drives me bonkers, but I can't change what happens. Makes life worth living though, love the football, love it! :D

Just wait till Saban and Mueller start swinging the axe and dead wood and cap cuts start flying and cap space starts increasing thats when the excitement will start. If Saban and Mueller really like Brees I look for them to move pretty quick to start up a dialogue before he is snatched up by someone else. I am really curious if McIntosh will be one of the cap casulties with his domesic problems and his big cap figure. Reggie Howard is most likely one of the cuts with his $25 million contract.

If this were to happen Id be pretty pleased. I think we could take care of the linebacker spot wit no problem. We have pretty good depth there and I think Spragan could start if we needed him to.

Just wondering if anyone else thought "Timex Social Club" after reading the title of the thread?:D

LB sounds like one of the deepest postitions in both FA and the draft.

About the only real miss I see from last year is McDougal. I wasn't really enthused by Tebucky or Tillman, either, but both are serviceable at their price. Schulters was probably the best bang for the buck of the lot, although not a long term answer and I believe we got our money's worth out of Traylor as well, even if he missed 3 games (I just noticed looking over his stats that he actually once returned a kickoff in his second season- now that's a scary thought, especially for whoever had to tackle him). And I shared your reservations about Carter and Holliday, too for the same reason you mentioned.

We're all going crazy here waiting but we have no choice...all we can do is read about all the rumors and hope that the best of those actually happen...free agency starts next week so is not that far away and teams will move fast....in the next 3 or 4 days I'd expect us to start cutting some guys to get ready for next week.

Ozzy rules!!
