Manaia Brown, a high profile NT/DT rookie free agent from BYU, was just released by the Redskins. He might be a worthy look see because he had a reputation for shutting down the inside running game. He is about Tim Bowens size if I read right. Several publications said he was an idea NT. I do not know why he was released. If someone finds that out before I do please post.

Brown had a groin injury and had barely practiced...

That is why he was cut. Well, he might be an interesting project. He was considered one of the best defensive linemen available that wasn't drafted and a very strong inside guy. Could sign him to practice squad.

That sucks for him. I think if we're going with a NT, we should just get the deal with Dan Wilkinson done.

the reason the deal is not done is because big fatty (daddy) wants to skip training camp. i don't blame him. go buckeyes....

Screw big daddy,if he does'nt want to be in our camp then we don't want him on our team.
If anyone thinks saban will pick this lazy arse on our team,i disagree, he will not sacriface the chemistry that we are building, if you think otherwise i don't think you understand what saban is trying to do with this franchise.

I really don't know how much help Wilkinson will be to us. He definitely won't be an immediate contributor. It will take him some time to get into football shape, and then he has to adjust to the Miami heat. The longer he stays out of TC, the less valuable he is. I think Fred Evans will take Manny's spot and backup Truck.
 
I think Brown was probably released because he was toward the bottom of the depth chart and had a groin injury that will apparently keep him out indefinitely.
 
I was actually higher on Fifita since the begining, there was an all-undrafted team and they had Fifita as a starter, so I guess we dont really need Brown,we could use a veteran, who could come in and take over half the snaps from day one, we already have nice youngsters to develop...
 
While I think Dan would be a good pickup, I worry about the fact that we need youth in this area. Hopefully we can develop one of our younger players for that. I don't think that Saban just drafted them to be camp fodder.
