See. This is what frustrates me about Philbin. Saying he needs to earn by getting it done in practice and while he is in the building is just stupid. Sounds so high schoolish to me. If he was a complete dog so be it, but why is he active.

The conversation should be "what does the player...in this case Jordan...do best and how do we use those strengths?"

Philbin thinks he is committed, but he is hard-headed and quickly losing his coaching opportunity.

These are the traits that bothered me last summer on Knocks that I am seeing this year.

Vernon's emergence is whats keeping Jordan off the field imo. Even without Vernon, the 20-25 snaps per game seems about right for Jordan considering that's what he played in college, and he also missed a lot of training camp with injury. I have no problem with how they are bringing him along.

I don't think they will ever do it, but I would like to see Jordan moved to Wheeler's spot. He brings just as good blitzing to the table and should hold up vs the run better. Plus he is supposed to be a great coverage guy and this will let us match him up on tight ends.

But the current thought in the league is that pass rush is much more important than having linebackers who can cover.

Jordan will spend 4 years developing and will leave the Dolphins to become an all pro...

he did look good covering gronk when we used him that way...pretty impressed with how he could mirror gronks movements so well

He did look good in coverage. Line him up over the TE with safety help. Cover sometimes. Blitz the QB sometimes. Force the other team to account for him.

The guy would be Phenomenal as an OLB in a 3-4...it is a shame they don't run that defense...

Odrick, Soliai, and Starks as your 3 down lineman

Wake and Jordan as your OLBs

Ellerbe and Misi/Trunsik/Jenkins as you ILB

yep...i pegged him as a 34 olb natural fit...a stand up player as a prospect...why he wasn't on my miami board being we run a 43...

very fluid...moves like a lb...

he definitely though in our d looks like a guy that can help alleviate all these issues covering tight ends we have...let him jam some of these guys at the line and open his hips and run with em...terrific move athlete

that said the edge win pass rush has to get work to develop too...kinda a pickle for us...he's a better stand up player right now and one dimensional as an edge rusher against tackles...

but why they went away from him covering gronk later in the game i don't get...but i think its cause wake is still not right and we needed to supplement his pass rush with jordan on the edge...wake gets healthy i would absolutely line jordan up over tight ends more to shut them down

Understand that Jordan has 10 quarterback hurries and three quarterback hits so far. Vernon has 16 quarterback hurries and two quarterback hits -- but also has 2 1/2 times more pass rush snaps than Jordan.

Exactly. I suggested that the Dolphins use Jordan on TEs in the past. Not exclusively, just to help and people thought it was a silly idea. Some FinHeaven posters sure do think they know everything.

gold star for you on that one...i wanted to rush him and send him forward as much as possible to work on that rush arsenal and develop the pass rush...but that coverage on gronk at that size is eye opening...nice call

wake gets right and we can move jordan around this d gets to another level...let him stand up and cover and rush thru gaps etc not just come off the edge against tackles over and over...

that kids a dcs dream with his versatility and skillset

i was skeptical, because i didnt watch him at all in college, and since he has been here he has been playing end and rushing the passer. personally i wasnt sure if he would be able to flip the switch so to speak, and run with one of the nfl's best pass catching threats. turns out he can and i am impressed.

the more i think about it though the more i think that i don't want jordan as just an every down de...not unless he puts on good weight and gets much stronger...i like the idea more of using him as a stand up player an elephant type

i'm not sure his edge pass rush has a lot more growth honestly...his dc said that he was almost maxed out as a pass rusher in college and i think i see some signs of it...how can he not have a initial step outside redirect back inside arm over move??? probably cause he did so many other things in college other than rush the passer...at least i hope it was that and not he's a finished edge pass rush product

There's a reason he went #3 overall. He's definitely a pawn you can move all over the place. Ridiculously athletic considering he did pass coverage in college and he was also all county (or all state...don't remember) at TE/WR in high school for whatever that's worth.
