Mando: Farmer Leading Candidate

From a fans perspective, hiring a guy that has not run a draft is a gamble. Farmer has been involved in scouting in KC when they got some pretty good talent and this past draft in Cleveland. Now it's easy to surmise that he was only in Cleveland for a month and cast doubt on his role but the truth is we don't know his role in any draft.

You want to play this stupid game?

Lets play another, lets see how many people DONT click his ridiculous tweet or blog of whatever it is.

You started this ridiculous game by attacking me as soon as I posted it. I think what is most appropriate is simply pass over the thread if you do not like the participants. The thread title was specific enough to not fool the potential reader...if you do not like the author of it...don't read it. I do not think it warranted a personal attack from you.

I thought other members might be interested.

Farmer is probably the biggest name out there of the people who we're interested in. At least, according to what I can figure out. He's not my leading candidate, though. His specialty is in the pro personnel side of things and we already have some well respected names on that side in Brian Gaine, Anthony Hunt and Chris Shea. Farmer would be the fourth pro personnel guy on the staff. Meanwhile we'd only have Chris Grier (big name) and Joe Schoen (who I've never heard of) as the big names on the college scouting side.

You want to build through the draft? Try loading up on big names on your college scouting side. The pro personnel game is easier, anyway, as I saw even Farmer admit in an interview.

Highsmith, Licht and Vital should be our top targets, imo. With Marc Ross more of a fallback option.

I think Brian Gaine and those guys are probably going to be replaced.

Exactly. If Farmer had a hand in that then I'm all for it.

He would have, for sure. Part of the job of the pro personnel staff is to asses your own roster. How good are the players you have and where do you improve? In other words, it would have been the job of Farmer's staff to watch Trent Richardson's tape and say, "he's, uh... not that good. If you can get something for him go for it." It would also have been their job to identify potential trading targets by figuring out which team's were weak at the running back spot.

I hope not. Gaine, Hunt and Shea are all considered rising stars.

I think he might be connecting the dots with things. However, I think this would be an excellent selection. He is most def. qualified.

Ummm...we will see how many hits this gets in the next three hours and we can tally it. Sound good?

I care!!

Evil, dude you need to chill out. Its a forum! People like me enjoy reading and posting dolphins related issues. What did you expect, talk about the weather?

Whether or not Armando is full of it again, it sounds like Ray Farmer is a very good candidate. I have read a couple NFL reporters write that he is one of the strongest GM candidates available and Browns fans are ripping their hair out at the thought of losing him.

No surprise that he would be near the top of the list, of course, if you can trust Armando.

I refuse to trust Armando but do hope Farmer is near the top of the list.

Jason Licht is at the top of my list. I am hoping they have contacted him.

I just hope that the Dolphins do a thorough job in the interview process and get the best one available.
