For five days now I've been telling you the Dolphins are on the quarterback hunt -- again.
I told you Saturday that Peyton Manning is a possibility for the team and that he's prominent on the team's radar, assuming he is available and wants to play in 2012. The point was echoed by national and other local news sources Sunday and Monday.
As you know the hiring of Joe Philbin makes Matt Flynn another possibility in the team's chase of a starting franchise quarterback. Philbin was the Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator and is familiar with Flynn, the Packers backup.
But which one is the chief priority?
Is it Manning at age 36? or Flynn who is largely unproven?
A team source e-mailed me this afternoon that the priority is Manning. This coincides with news out of Mobile, Ala., where the Senior Bowl is going to be played Saturday. A league source there tells The Herald's Barry Jackson that the Dolphins have shown no interest in Flynn as of yet -- not even informal interest.
Now, teams are not allowed to show formal interest in soon-to-be free agents at this time. But at those Senior Bowl practices, where agents and team personnel departments mingle on the sideline, it's common for preliminary signs of future interest to be displayed. In fact, it's almost expected.
The Dolphins have shown no such interest in Flynn.

This is a dangerous avenue to take in my opinion

Seriously how much info do they share with Armando about stuff they shouldn't be discussing now anyway. You guys make too much out of nothing.

Screw him and omar they know nothing but to speculate.very very bad informers. I rather just think whatever is the opposite of what they say.we are very interested in flynn and not manning

i want flynn or rg3

It's not just Armando reporting this. Everyone's been reporting this both locally and nationally

I am sure this is credible information. Similar to the information about who our next HC was going to be. :rolleyes2:

Why on Earth would a team official email this clown about their plans? That makes no sense. If I were a Dolphin official, I would only feed this guy wrong information to make him look like a bigger buffoon and get his *** fired.

Oh so you're telling me that the Dolphins are keeping thier mouths shut about activity that could be found illegal and ruin any chance we have of getting Flynn. Ya they're so stupid. Mando should shut up.

So many people was yelling WE NEED TO DRAFT A QB IN THE 1ST ROUND FOR ONCE!!! but now everyone wants a 7th round, 2nd team QB that has shown only two games on film in the NFL. I'm not sure about Flynn , he could be fools gold like so many other 2nd team QB's that was paid with minimal starts. I guess that whole Feely ordeal has me a little leery on Flynn.

Right Mando. Just like Philbin was completely out of play, right?

I think it's funny that we even think we have a shot at Manning. Why would he come here with these jokers in the front office and a first time head coach?

IF healthy, Manning will sell tickets, Manning is proven, Manning is elite, Manning is a huge upgrade over Moore even if he is just 70% healthy, Manning can groom a future young QB.

Flynn is unproven so is RG3 (plus Miami just isnt in position to get him)

Honestly who would you rather pay, Peyton Manning or Matt Flynn? IF Manning is healthy you know you have a chance to make a run in the playoffs, with flynn though...not sure. Manning buys time til we find our young gun QB who can learn behind Manning, while at the same time, Manning is selling tickets in Miami!

We're talking about Peyton freakin Manning, the human computer. How often is a Peyton Manning available as a stop gap QB at the same time though increases your chances dramatically going to the super bowl? hardly never!

Im tired of stop gap QB's too but who else better for a young QB to learn behind than the Peyton Manning? We can be serious contenders with Manning for at least a couple years and draft our version of Aaron Rodgers in the late first round, let him learn behind Manning and when Manning is done, our young QB is ready and we're serious contenders for the next decade.

How would Armando know if Flynn and Philbin didn't have a long meeting after Philbin was offered the Phin's job? Was Armando sitting on Joe's lap and watching his every move? Maybe Philbin already told Flynn that he knows enough about him that he doesn't need to see anymore, or hang all over him in Mobile?

With that said, if Manning is 75% healthy he would still be better than Moore or Flynn. The Phins just have to see if they can get some answers from Manning and his doctors to see whether his injury is a career ender, or something that will allow him to pay a few more years.
