Mando says - Jeff Ireland is not the Devil

Surprised Mando wrote that. Actually a really good read as I agree the whole Jeff Ireland hatred is getting ridiculous. Not thrilled with Ireland right now but I'll wait until the draft before I start chanting "Fireland!"

The problem is that we're hoping that they hit a home run in the draft even though this is Ireland's 5th year and this team is still a mess.

Jeff Ireland is the best thing that happened to south Florida radio and sports reporters. They do not need to fabricate the stories, Ireland creates them.
Of course they will come to his defense to keep him around.

He's not the devil, but it's clear the man has no people skills. His personality rubs people the wrong way and the entire NFL knows it. Jeff Ireland could be fired after the Draft, it's that bad right now.

Sigh.  I actually agree with Armando....which is a new low point for me.  Yes, this FO has shown some ineptitude, but the current venom being directed at Ireland is a little much.  I think he should be criticized.  But this is reaching epic proportions and only serves to highlight a rabidly unsophisticated fanbase.

A point that gets forgotten:  You can't ignore that at least some of the problem lies with our previous coaching staff and their ineptitude as well.  Were players being used correctly?  Were they being developed correctly?  It's funny how just because that coaching staff is gone, nobody bothers to think about the lasting effects.  Were we mediocre for 3 straight seasons because there's no talent on this team or we made stupid personnel moves?  Or were we mediocre because our personnel moves couldn't cover up for a poorly coached team?  Or could our brilliant coaching not overcome the lack of talent?  It's just a matter of who's the flavor of the week (to hate).

Over the last several years, the Phins have been built conservatively and have operated in the manner that Parcells dictated.  If anyone is to blame, it is him.  I do think we're not going to be out of the woods until we get rid of all that Parcells brought with him, but to direct our systemic problems at any one individual is short-sighted.

I agree he's not the devil, he's more like a low level demonic agent trying to earn his pitch fork and tail.

So it's entirely Parcells' fault? :err:

Ireland gets a pass?

Anything less to me would be illogical. The Tuna was/is a control freak, and all control freaks control everything. IMO there is ZERO chance Ireland was calling the shots while the Tuna was here. For example do you really think Ireland wanted to draft Pat White if and when they did?

Actually he hasn't. There has been a great deal of embellishment.

Ireland is far from perfect, but he's also a far from the villain he is made out to be. We are experiencing modern day jacobinism.

This.

If Ireland doesn't immediately change his ways with others, look for Ross to get rid of him.

It's to the point now where Ireland MUST show he can change, can start by getting Wake the deal he deserves.
