Mando's open letter to Philbin

Stupid letter by Armando. If Armando wants a press conference to address the Wells report (whats there to address at this point anyway?), he doesn't need to go off on this diatribe "open letter". Seriously, what new information are we going to get out of a press conference? I don't see why having one is so necessary.

I'm not sure it's about 'new information'

It's necessary because like he says in the letter, Hickey now will have to face the media's barrage of bully gate questions, post Wells report, in the coming days. It's about Philbin being the one answering these questions, however he chooses to answer.

This year you helped author a disaster. No, I'm not talking about the on-field collapse the final two games of the season. I'm not talking about your desire to keep offensive coordinator and friend Mike Sherman when the entire rest of the planet understood he had to go. I'm not even talking about your failed relationship with Jeff Ireland and curious business relationship with executive vice president of football administration Dawn Aponte.
I'm talking about your harassment scandal and all the issues that scandal has given birth to.

Ouch. And that's coming from Armando, who knows a thing or two about authoring a disaster.

No he wont. I highly doubt Hickey will be addressing bullygate the way you think. He's going to give a canned response about the organization's stance on harassment, and then defer to the NFL. Its completely unnecessary imo. Bullygate is overblown and its over people, lets move on.

I could care less what Joe has to say about the bullying saga. I want him focusing on making this team better not worrying about speaking to the media all the time.

Agree with you Daytona, at this point I do not want to hear much else from Philbin. What is he going to say that is going to make this situation any better at this point? There will probably be more team announcements coming in the near future.

I couldn't get past the first few sentences. For one as far as I know no coaches are speaking with the media at this time. And two, who gives a ****? Your answer will be "Martin...coach speak coach speak coach speak. And Richie Incognito...coach speak coach speak coach speak."

I'm not a Mando fan but this was a smart article. While he makes some intelligent points, he will also either goad the administration into saying something that makes his job easier to report on or if they stay quiet gives his hit jobs a little more weight since it shows the front office has no personality/accountability.

Crafty.

All the time? Is there a head coach in the league who speaks to the media less? We get our information through the media. So when Joe refuses to speak to the media, he's refusing to speak to the fans.

Bill B. for one...but that's ok because NE wins. They released Hernandez through a team statement..

Joe speaks to the media all season long and has a coaches show that airs on Sunday mornings. How many coaches have you heard address the media since the season ended, other than the mandatory press conferences? I'm sure he will address the media on this subject to satisfy the few fans that actually care what he has to say about it. Personally, if he is going to take time away from preparing of his football team, I would rather hear about his plans for this football team not about a bunch of nonsense we already know about.

Hernandez was a non-football situation so I don't expect much from Beli on that. Miami's issue, at least in part, took place on team facilities. Fan money supports the team; they deserve to get some information on how these issues are going to be addressed and how they're going to be prevented in the future.

I think more statements will be coming along but more as a team statement, as far as prevention in the future and all of that...

They already gave that press conference months ago. What new information are you expecting to learn from a presser at this point? Did you not read the Wells report?

philbin wont be making any comments about how hes gonna improve the team beacuase hes a clueless moron. like the letter states, there is no way in the world he would have fired his boy mike sherman when every dolphin fan knew thats exactly what should happen. i think sparano is a hall of fame coach compared to this clown.

Yeah if I had to guess, which I do because I don't really pay attention to how often other coaches speak to the media, I would say Philbin is at least top 10 in media accessibility. How many other coaches do the weekly Monday radio show? Plus the Dolphins volunteered to be on Hard Knocks again this past season, and I think we were the only team volunteering to be on it at that time. So yeah, this narrative that Philbin is more stingy with the media than your typical NFL coach is total BS imo.

For starters, why they haven't fired Turner, or why they feel he deserves to stay after what the report revealed. I want to know what their thought process is regarding keeping him or firing him.

I haven't heard any other coaches in the league in any press conferences since the season ended. Philbin not talking about this yet or ever means he's in over his head? It's weird how if Miami was to actually have made the playoffs last year none of these comments would be made.

He goes from what some were saying could've been coach of the year bc of making the playoffs amid the scandal to now a lot of people talking **** and wanting him fired.

Life and times I guess.
