Manning AND Tannehill?

It is a pretty big assumption considering we are talking about the Dolphins. But I would hope that they realize that even with Manning at 100% (no guarantee) that they still do not have a future QB on the roster. In addition if they win with Manning (playoffs) they will have played themselves out of drafting a franchise QB next year when more of those types will be available.
really huh? How did that turn out for the 83' dolphins? And most recent the packers? You can never outwin your future success. Good teams win now and finish strong which builds a blueprint for the future.

More mindless idiocy that has 0 chance of happening. What is this. fairy tale dolphins week?

This isn't happening and you're dumb to think it would.

That would be FA and draft dream, but if we pick Manning and weeden in the second, I would be glad too ( with why not reiff or blackmon in the first).

No way Manning is coming to a team that plans on drafting a QB with their 1st round pick, particularly the #8 pick overall. He's going to want a team committed to putting as many pieces around him as possible to help him immediately. If Miami goes the Manning route, look for a QB no sooner than the 3rd, IMO.
I think that's a valid point if the draft pick was considered an immediate franchise qb, a la Luck and maybe RG3. But I think everyone projects Tannehill as needing a year or two of development, and that he would be a bit of a reach at 8. Hopefully, we could trade back a few, get him and an extra pick.

If Mike Sherman really thinks he is the real deal, then we will get him at 8, its worth it. If we pass or take gambles on getting him later by trading back for more picks, a Seattle, KC, Or some other team could swipe him. I like Weeden but we need a younger QB to groom if were signing Manning to play for at least 3 years.

This where people make mistakes in understanding the draft....the early projections mean nothing, even much of the current projections mean nothing. If Tannehil has shot up the draft boards....much like Phillip Rivers did, or several QB's last year.....you will never get him later in the draft.

If Manning is the target....he is getting near the end of his career and he has health risks...you need to have a plan B as well as a QB of the future being groomed to replace him. Even though Tannehill needs a year or two to develop...we'd be the perfect team to develop him with Peyton Manning on board. Did SF not acquire Steve Young even though they had Joe Montana? Yes of course they did.

I agree, I was just responding to someone saying that Peyton wouldn't come here if we were taking a first round qb. My point is, I don't think there would be any qb controversey with Tannehill, where there could at least be the argument (which Peyton himself agrees with) that Luck should start immediately.
Depending on how the draft develops and the tea leaves, I could see us dropping back a 2-3 spots, maybe to 11 ahead of Seattle, but you're right, the compensation might not be worth the risk. It depends on the value they put on Tannehill.

Manning wouldn't be able to dictate if we take Tannehill or not. He'll be signed before then if he comes here and I think he is smart enough to realize we have to think about the future after him, have insurance for his neck situation, and that we intend for him to start till he is finished. Tannehill wouldn't be our starter unless Manning gets hurt or calls it a career.

So, Miami will spend millions on Manning and immediately tick him off when they use their #8 overall pick for a guy who is of no use to Peyton? I just don't see that happening. This isn't about when Tannehill would be ready to start - Manning wouldn't object to a "project" QB on the roster. He's just going to want to be in a situation where the team that signs him is sold out to get to the Super Bowl. Spending your 1st rounder on another QB isn't a place Manning's going to want to be.
