Manning aside, I'm glad we haven't been aggressive yet in free agency...

YET? man when is the last time we were big in free agency? we need to make a splash some how

Daunte Culpepper, Joey Porter, Karlos Dansby, big trade (big contract) for Brandon Marshall. All of these were big splashes at the time they were made. Only Dansby has played close to his contract.
Building through the draft is the correct way to go, HOWEVER, that is contingent upon making good draft decisions. Jamar Fletcher, Eddie Moore, Jason Allen and Ted Ginn do not represent good draft decisions, but they were made by different FO's.
You can't complain about Jake Long, Jared Odrick and Mike Pouncey. All very good picks and are the types of players to build your foundation upon.

Thanks button for this post. I had forgotten about good ol Daunte for a minute. And it reminds me of the hit and miss nature of FA.. look at one of the true FA success storys Drew Brees. It just goes to show that there is no one way that always works. I just really believe that the hand dealt to the Dolphins in the last few days predicates us focusing on the draft as of now as opposed to FA reaches.

Absurd is our WR core right now. We could have gotten Wayne for a decent price, esp if we were serious about Manning.

By the way, love how you make fun of Garcon when he almost put up 1000 in Indy last year. He sucks...lol

Where did I say he sucked? I said his contact is way overpaid. 1000 yards? That may have been special 10 years ago but hardly anything in today's nfl where 600 attempts are the norm.

Why don't you go look up the last WR that broke 1000 yards BEFORE Marshall. Too funny.

I wonder what you'd say if we got Brees instead of Daunte.

I get a kick out of the people saying it will be OK because the way to build is through the draft but this GM has not shown that he can do that at all. He gets a few good players ( especially in the first round where you should get at least some serviceble players) but he does not seem to be able to find playmakers in the draft at all or keepers in the late rounds. There is not one player on the fins that we drafted that i would not be willing to trade or upgrade in FA, yes even Jake Long (he is becoming a worry due to injuries IMO) but for many I would hope to get more than a couple of 3rd rounders

Sorry, there is a reason for anger on the board. We got rid of our best WR in a long time, not to mention our biggest offensive threat. The cheapness we gave him up for is the big kick in the ass. Now day 2 gone by and no word about anything after the owner has promised to make a big splash in FA? Even if we get Manning, which is highly unlikely, he has nobody to throw to with the exception of a possible future pickup of whats left in Laurent Robinson or Mario Manningham.

There is a reason for the "sky is falling" mentality. Its because we've been crap for so long, making stupid decisions and it's happening all over again.

one thing about this year we wont have to argue like we did last year , because we wont have to suck 4 luck , we will just suck and we will get the #1 pick next year.

i'm with you. The chicken little syndrome permeating the dolfans and the media is just pathetic. 25 hours into free agency and everyone's making it sound like we gave up jerry rice and are in full rebuilding mode. We got rid of a headcase that's one black eye away from a year's suspension. And there are a few wrs coming out in the draft that will fit in quickly in the wco.

they are playing it smart. I don't think manning is coming but by waiting, they aren't gonna overpay for flynn. I just hope they sign eric winston.

I'll reserve my panic until after free agency, the draft and the last round of cuts in training camp.

lol.

What did those 1000 yard seasons with Marshall get us? Rings? Lombardi? Nope, it got us celebrity owners and a nothing to do with football night club. Pit Bull yo! Shake dat ass...

Until Jeff Ireland is gone and Ross sells the team, Miami will continue to toil in mediocrity. Why be mad about the it? It's like bitching because the sky is blue...

Philbin believes in the Packer way....build through the draft.
