“It was really cool,” Tannehill told me. “A guy that had his career, the living legend he is, coming off a Super Bowl winning season --- it was really cool just to be able to sit and pick his brain about things he's done in this offense and football things in general: snap counts, things you like, the way you want guys to run routes, little details about the game. We really just got to talk the game, which is something we both love.”

Peyton Manning visits Dolphins

Merge with other post I didn't see

Four years after unsuccessfully trying to sign him, the Dolphins finally got Peyton Manning in their building this offseason. And it was entirely his idea.It speaks volumes about new Dolphins coach Adam Gase that Manning chose to quietly visit Dolphins headquarters earlier this spring to meet with Gase (his former offensive coordinator in Denver) and share some knowledge with Ryan Tannehill.
Manning, who is now retired, told Tannehill some of the nuances of Gase’s offense.
“At that time, we weren't able to meet with the coaches or anything, so I didn’t really have a great handle yet,” Tannehill said. “So I wasn't really able to dive into the playbook too much. So I had a few questions [for Manning]. If he comes back now, we can have a completely different conversation.”
What was clear, Tannehill, said is that Manning “respects Adam. The things they did, getting to a Super Bowl together, there is a mutual respect there. He is something I aspire to be, as good or better as he is one day. Hopefully, we'll be able to get him to come around some more.”

This tells me TWO things. The admiration for Gase from Manning is real. And I do not think Manning would spend any significant time with a QB he didn't see something in just because he admires the HC.

I am thrilled by this news. It was news I would put into a dream type of category. Although Marino is already in place in Miami, I would love for Manning to be a part of this franchise in some meaningful way if he has those aspirations. I think the main reason he was the QB that he was is because of the game he displayed using his brains over natural ability.

Very pumped by this.

It was an unsolicited visit as well. Dropped in to see how Gase was doing and to speak with Tannehill.

I have tremendous respect for Peyton Manning. If he wanted to be a part of this organization somehow I'd welcome him with open arms

consultant? I know a lot of jobs have been offered to him, but that would be invaluable

I think the value of these things can be exaggerated, but no doubt a cool, helpful experience for Tannehill

Basically Manning said you shouldn't snap the ball on thethe same count for run and pass and that reading the D and changing protection while under center pre snap helps the offense...genius, we need more of these visits after he reads the playbook and steps on the field

the only way RT can improve is if this coaching staff gets in his face and is critical of his mistakes. enough of the babying

Ahh yes, sacked so many times he pisses blood. But obviously he gets babied, you know?

I'm talking about fundamental mistakes.....but hey, 5th year, we'll see if he continues to get the benefit of the doubt

Elaborate...

at what point can he overcome the same obstacles as Brady and Rodgers? Offensive line bad 5 years, really? 4 first rd picks now. At what point is he not advancing through the play book, where he can take better command of it all? How many GM's coaches and coordinators do we have to go through? Look, you either have it or don't. to win CONSISTENTLY in this league, you need an elite qb. sure you'll go a year or two there, where an elite defense will carry a team, but you want to be in the mix, deep in the playoffs every year? get a franchise qb.
