You all just need to let it rest. Indy knows this. Dan Marino ultimately had to retire because of neck issues. If the nerves to the arm are impinged, you will lose arm strength after repeated throws. An isolated throw may be strong but repeated throws will be less strong as the nerve fatigues. Manning is following Marino's path. He is done, he just may not know it yet.

Manning had a one-level cervical fusion, so the nerve at that level is no longer impinged. The problem is that he probably still has residual effects from the original impingement. It may be more than a year before he gets his full muscle ability at that level. Not quite sure what level was impinged but if it was C6-7 it would affect muscles like his biceps and wrist flexors. C7-T1 would affect his triceps function. My point, I wouldn't want him. He probably still has weakness in his throwing arm and if he did return, one bad hit and it's over regardless.

I'll never bet against Peyton Manning's determination. If he's available and he's healthy enough to play, I think we'll deeply regret not giving him the 2-3 years that he deserves.

I am living proof that this is true. Mine was a double discectomy with fusion and titanium plate with six screws at C5-6 and C6-7. My left arm fatigues very easily.

This is the same scenario I thought when news of the neck issues came out. I would be surprised if he plays at all again. I would be even more surprised if he is any good if he is capable of playing or receiving clearance to play.

A sad way to go out for one of the games all time best QBs. Based on the Colts firing of their GM and HC, it appears the Colts don't have any faith in Manning's recovery and have begun to transition to a new era. Only question remains will they cut him outright or try to get some draft picks for him and which team will take a chance on him being recovered.

If you dont mind me asking what happend that caused this?
