Manning may yet remain with the Colts?

I guess it depends on Peyton now.....whatever he wants to do. This will pretty much go back and forth til March 8th when Peyton is due to recieve his 28 million dollars bonus plus salary of 7 million.

Indy is his team. He has his roots there. His father came out and said that Peyton would like to stay with the Colts a few weeks ago. I guess we'll know for sure soon, if Peyton really wants to stay then perhaps they can make it work

We know now. Peyton's time in Indianapolis is over. This is a business first and foremost. Doesn't matter that it is his team or that his roots are there. As an owner you make big boy decisions for your future. Irsay is not going to handcuff himself to a 36 year-old QB who has had three major neck surgeries and is a huge injury risk. Andrew Luck is their guy for the future without question.

Cutting Peyton Manning is the right thing to do.

Under the new CBA; Mannings contract cant be restructed, they either pay him or cut him.

This maybe the stupidest move by Irsay in a long time.

I've believed all along that if Manning is healthy he'll be wearing a Colt's uniform next season. If Manning is healthy that gives the Colts their best chance at another championship. Luck will not make their team much better relatively soon. Keeping a healthy Manning and trading their #1 away is their best option. Again, though, Peyton must be healthy.

This is more then Irsay making a last ditch effort to save face with Colts fans. The simple truth is Irsay can't afford to let Manning sign elsewhere. This is an extension of his hand to meet Manning on the terms he said he would be willing to sign with a team for. Incentive laden contract based on playing time.

Manning wants to finish his career in Indy, Bruce Arians is the OC, its setup for him to do that. Look for Manning to be wearing the horse shoe on his helmet next season.

Why stay in Indy with the Colts?...they stink. Even Johnny Unitas didn't finish his career with the Colts.....no biggie.

what makes you think he is playing games here?

I think 2/3s of the teams in the league would take peyton on a restructured deal where say he only gets paid as he plays. It takes away the big risk factor surrounding him.

I'd have thought staying in indy with the chance to play if healthy would be his preferred choice over any of the teams being mentioned.

not if the colts draft luck , noway do i see him stayin in indy and if so i see luck pullin a eli.

Doesn't matter if he's willing to rework his contract. What matter is what does Luck want to do? Because the Colts are going to draft Luck no matter what, but if Luck is NOT okay with being on the bench then the Colts will just let Peyton go.

Second, on Peyton's side, does he want Luck behind him? If Peyton were to restructure his contract to make it purely performance based, and he starts struggling, they will bench his *** and put Luck in, saves them lots of money as they won't have to pay a dime.

Or Peyton can just go to a team like OURS, and be given a full opportunity to play a full season (if healthy) and earn his money.
In a perfect world...yes. But let's face the facts here. If Manning isn't truly ready (and comes to Miami), the moment he struggles he will be ridiculed by Dolphins fans. People will say he is a washed up has been and will not give him one ounce of respect. Here's the kicker....the media will feed on this.

Peyton said it best that he doesn't recognize the team or FO anymore. Irsay has cleaned house. Other than the uniforms, there is no familiarity there. Jeff Saturday may retire as well and Reggie Wayne may leave via FA.
I believe Peyton wants the team to be competitive and doesn't want to take a beating at this stage in his career and that's what he would be doing with the Colts.

Already to much salt in the wound.

Manning is done in Indy.

Manning reply:

Ok cut me, then i will go out in the market and see what I get and if you match it, then MAYBE i will come back.
Irsay is BS'n.

Manning doesnt have to say anything and probably shouldnt, but I wont believe anything until it comes from mannings mouth, or his actions dictate what he wants and how his health is.
