Manning may yet remain with the Colts?

If Irsay was going to cut Manning, why hast he done it already? There is no incentive to wait until the last minute, and I am sure he has decided already. I believe Manning may stay with Indy or retire.

Great point. Irsay, like the rest of us don't, doesn't know if Manning will be healthy enough to play or not. Irsay wants to keep a healthy Manning. Again, if Manning is healthy he'll be wearing the Colts uniform next season. And if that's the case, I wouldn't bet on Luck wearing that same uniform.

You hire a friend to build a house and he falls off a ladder and can not work for an unknown amount of time, you hire another builder because you still need a place to live. Doesn't mean you don't go visit your friend in the hospital and wish him a speedy recovery.

Business decisions suck sometimes when friendships are involved, the Irsay and Manning situation is no different but the media like always loves a story so they persist on driving on with any quote or source they can find, point in case Rob Lowe! lol.

Healthy or not, Manning is done in Indianapolis. This is business.

He's too much an injury risk considering what Indianapolis has waiting for them.

If Andrew Luck wasn't ready to plop down in Irsay's lap, we'd have a different story

Even if Andrew Luck flops in a Ryan Leaf-like way, Indianapolis is doing the right thing now by cutting Manning.

What if Manning remains in Indianapolis and the Packers franchise Flynn(Peter King just said the Packers should move heaven and Earth to franchise him)? Yikes.

Not knocking you silver, or directed towards you, directed to the masses, but do you honestly all think the Colts will keep Manning with Luck in the wings? Especially when they just hired Bruce Arians, and he physically stated the Colts want to go younger, or something to that nature. Nothing more than damage control here. It sucks losing a start player in favor of a younger player, we've all experienced it, i.e. Zach Thomas, because he "couldn't play in the 3-4." It sucks for the Colts, but this is nothing more than damage control.

Won't happen and Peter King is an idiot.

If that happened, then we should stick with Moore for another year.

Because they'll be paying Flynn almost double what Rogers makes and teams won't touch him at that price. That would be a foolish move IMO.

It is financially irresponsible for the Colts to keep Manning AND Luck. One has to go. Indianapolis would be commiting franchise suicide by keeping Manning and trading that pick. Healthy or not, THREE NECK SURGERIES. That's not something you snub your nose at...especially when you're giving up 35lbs to guys trying to knock your face off.

It's also financially irresponsible for the Packer to franchise Matt Flynn. Where does Peter King come up with this stuff? You have the NFL MVP in his prime years and you're franchising a backup and paying him not to play against you essentially. He's had TWO decent games. What has he proven to earn that franchise tag?

Well, the bright side to that is that another mediocre season behind a backup QB would increase the odds of Ireland getting fired.

A good GM would find a QB one way or another. A bad GM would come up with excuses as to why he couldn't once again.

What if the Colts prefer RGIII over Luck? Probable? No. Possible? Yes. They could keep Manning because RGIII would most likely not mind sitting behind Peyton. Peyton, however, would most likely have to agree to allow RGIII to step in at times during the game. Talk about a nightmare offense! Peyton playing like Peyton and then have to switch your mindset to play against RGIII's style in the same game? In theory the Colts could have Peyton, RGIII and a butt load of draft picks.

There are just too many scenarios to make a claim like, "The Colts are getting Luck and Peyton is gone" and be 100% sure. Could that happen? Of course. IMO, it won't if Peyton is healthy.
