Manning met with Dolphins today in Indy for 5-6 hours

I was just thinking about this.

He met with every team for about the same length of time. With the Broncos and Cardinals that included facility tour time. For the Dolphins that is all football talk. Anyone think that could mean something?

Its no big deal, Manning knows our facility...spent a week practicing there before they played in the Super Bowl...

People saying we had to go to him so we wont get him SMH.......

Its all speculation right now but there is a reason we were in Indy. It could of been to talk to the doctors or trainer. Also he didnt have to visit our facility anyway since he was there before the superbowl.

I love how this broke like 2 hours ago and Florio still doesn't have it up. Lmao, you know this had to piss him off.

To me it shows that previous meetings had no special significance. Each team is pretty much in a stale mate. I can't envision him going to Denver. I feel that team is def not as good as they were put out to be. Manning will make that team good be he will not win a SB with them.

Arizona to me has always been the rival in this race against miami. Simply because of three things. Larry Fitz. DOME, and there defense. Manning has a better chance here to win a SB than he does in Denver IMO.

Finally Miami has a better roster IMO for him to get a SB in the quickest time. Along with the addition of his friends he would like to add (which could happen at the above teams) would make MIA the team to beat in this race. I really feel this meeting was more of to get to know what would go down in practice, film, sidelines, and of course game-day huddles. Manning as one Brilliant individual. He can adjust to system if he feels it will get him to where he wants to be. However if he feels the change isn't worth his time and his talents, obviously he will take his talents elsewhere.

He already is familiar with our facilities from his Super Bowl down here in Miami...

I'm usually a negative nancy but I'm onboard with this move. It's classic old-school college type recruitment. You want the best player? You take your staff on a road-trip and go to his house... have his momma cook you some biscuits and gravy over football talk and a beer; where everyone's comfortable. This jetsetting to the facility crap is for the birds.

It some ways, this can appear like a desperate attempt to meet - where perhaps Peyton did not want to meet at all, so we had to convenience Peyton by bringing the interview to him. (save some face).

no?

Love it.

No report on the meeting late last night...... suddenly they learned Manning had a six hour meeting with Philbin and co at Indy.
And people are hanging on every twit and every 'source'. What a joke!

Jason LaCanfora just said Mannning could command a starting salary at $20 million. we wouldnt be able to bring any of his ex Colt buddies if that is the case. im not getting my hopes up.

People think its a bad thing we met him at his house??? I think its a good thing, It shows we really want him and we COULD OF met with the docs but that report will probably never come out. Since he knew our facility then there is no need for him to come to it again. Like someone said above we met with him for about the same time as Denver and Arizona but they had to show him the facility during part of their time so that means our whole meeting was football talk which is a great sign in my eyes.

Nope. Not in this case. The dolphins WANT Manning, so why should they be treating him like he's applying for the job? Fact is, it's the phins applying for the job. So let them come to him. There's nothing desperate about it imo. I look at it as good manners and a smart negotiating tactic.

The best way to court someone you want to hire is making it look like you're coming to them, even if you've got to fly them to you. In no part of the process should it seem like Manning is looking for a job.

I'd say at this point the phins are in way better shape since they took the initiative. Riddle me this, assume Manning drags his feet through the start of FA. Other teams start bleeding capspace while the phins wait it out or court Saturday, Wayne, etc. Leaving them in a stronger bargaining position if Manning comes back to the table. If all else fails, go for Tannehill.

It's a smart play.
