Manning met with Dolphins today in Indy for 5-6 hours

Just to placate people wondering why he didn't visit us and we went to him:

"Appearing on SportsCenter Monday morning, Schefter stated repeatedly that Manning won’t be taking any more free agent visits. Schefter explained that Manning “does not want to make this into a Reggie White tour,” and is already familiar with the Dolphins’ facility because the Colts used it during their two Super Bowl appearances in Miami."

I figured as much. I'm actually excited that they got to use more time to solely talk football and pick each other's brains than the other teams who had to tour him as well. He already knows our facility and this city since he lives here too. All we can do is hope Joe Philbin was able to talk him into being his quarterback. All the other ancillary stuff Manning already knows.

Someone told me signs indicated he wasn't impressed? I haven't read through this thread. Can anyone give me a rundown?

That might be coming from John Clayton who said it was "hard to think Manning was impressed" because he might not like the structure of the front office (what?) and because Tom Brady plays in the same division.

...what?

Tom Brady's career year? Who was he throwing to again?

Dante Culpepper's historic 2004 season, breaking records and holding the 6th best all time QBR...

heck, Moss rejuvated Cunningham's career as he went for 17 TD's as a rookie.

Im happy to see it took place somewhere else. Also happy to hear Ross wasnt apart of the meeting. This was a football meeting, and who better to talk football with Manning than Philbin and Sherman. The last thing the Dolphins would of wanted is another media circus surrounding the meeting. I feel a little better knowing it was kept a secret and shows Manning that the Dolphins are willing to do what makes him comfortable.

I am hoping Philbin was able to do enough to get Manning. Just hope Ireland wasnt there too!

Great offensive football minds feeding off each other for 6 hours at that meeting. The fact that now he knows we have great coaches and a commitment to win and some great players already with the team and being a childhood fan will have alot of sway in making his mind up.

Bravo to the Dolphins for keeping this one on the down low! No need for the circus at the team facility, this is the NFL all facilities are top notch. Skip the fluff and get down to business. On a lighter note can you imagine Tony Sparano having a 6hr meeting discussing offense?

Randy Moss made QBs great
An exception. No doubt there are a couple of others. A great QB can win a SB without a great WR. A great WR can't win a SB without a great QB. I'm sure there will be an exception out there for that too, but that's all it will be.

 thanks!

Re: the Thanks button, it's been disabled for the time being. We're getting a lot of traffic due to Manning Watch, so non-essentials have been temporarily disabled to allow for faster loading. The same will probably happen during the draft, etc.
