Manning, Moore and Tannehill...the Fins perfect 3-Pack

Personally, I'd prefer the Flynn, Moore Tannehill combo. That assumes both Philbin and Sherman endorse their respective past qb's. That way, you maximize your chances of having your franchise qb of the future on the roster. Flynn knows the system and would be a player coach on the field. If nothing else, he'll get the rest of the team up to speed the fastest. I know he has a small sample of work, but he has played at a high level in 2 more NFL games than Luck or RG3!

LOVE Peyton, but at this point, he is no more a certainty than the others to be able to play at a high level, and at best he plays for 2-3 more years. Then we're right back where we started, looking for a young future franchise QB. There's a risk/projection/leap of faith with each of these qb's; there's just a lot less long term upside to gambling on Peyton.

If they sign Flynn, I can't see them drafting Tannehill. Flynn is still a young QB and I would think that they would project him to be the QB for many years here. Now if they sign Manning, I could see them drafting Tannehill since Manning doesn't have many more years left and they would need a QB once he retires.

I agree with this. The question than becomes who will be better for the next 2-3 years and who will be the better mentor for the young arms sitting behind them. I would suggest this would be Manning, if he's healthy, but thats a big if. The risk with Flynn ,on the other hand, is he may be the guy and he may not. If he's not, you've just tied up big money as well as not drafting a QB high in the draft.

I have no idea if Peyton Manning is or ever will be 100%, but if he is here is what I consider the perfect way to solve our QB issues.
1. Sign Manning if he is healthy and available. Yes he will only be around for 2 or 3 years, but he makes us an instant contender, will put fannies in the seats (Ross knows this) and we gain instant respect and credibility. Again this is if he proves to be healthy and can regain his strength in his throwing arm.
2. Retain Matt Moore. I believe he has one year left on his contract and is a great insurance policy if Manning goes down. Did some good things in the time he played last year.
3. Draft Tannehill. My ideal scenario would be to trade down, pick up another pick, and grab Tannehill. I would love to get him in round 2, but by all accounts he will go in round one. We can then sure up the O-line, TE, or whatever defensive position they feel they want to sure up. Sherman seems to like Tannehill.
Under this scenario, A. WE ARE INSTANT CONTENDERS, B. WE HAVE OUR QB OF THE FUTURE WHO GETS TO STUDY UNDER THE MASTER FOR A FEW YEARS, AND C. MATT MOORE IS A NICE INSURANCE POLICY SHOULD MANNING'S ARM FALL OFF.
I like it.
:tongue::tongue:
1. Nobody (even his Doctors) could create a timetable on Peyton Manning's recovery. So Miami won't be able to know if Peyton could be ready to throw in a decent way within the next 18 months. That said, he returns some credibility to the team but represents a risker version of what Favre was for 2008 NY Jets.

2. Matt Moore's current contract expires at the end of the upcoming season. So as you pointed he's a fine insurance policy and allow us to play dice and take some risk with Manning, specially if Ireland can work a cap friendly contract based on incentives with almost no warranted money.

3. Ryan Tannehill represents an excellent way to measure the forces inside this organization. On one side Dolphins' OC Mike Sherman (who coached Tannehill in Texas A&M) praised him comparing to Favre, while on the other side Dolphins' GM Jeff Ireland have expressed he isn't a franchise QB. So it will be interesting to see if Philbin based on Sherman's knowledge selects Tannehill within the first two rounds or Ireland guides the draft picking someone else.

Everything depends on contract size.

If Flynn gets something close to what Kolb got in 2011, we're toasted and Tannehill could be luxurious. But if Ireland works an incentive landed contract with few warranted millions, there's room to trade down some spots in the first round and still pick Tannehill.

I'd rather save the cap room spent on Manning for Mario Williams, if we are dreaming big here.

Manning has already stated he doesn't need a big contract, it can be all incentive based.

So here's what I'm thinking. You bring in Manning for a decent amount, most of it is based on his playing time and wins. You draft our young QB to train under Manning. Then take the cap hit and either get Osi from the Giants or Super Mario and put him opposite Cameron Wake.

Good lordy, the road to the superbowl would go right through Miami with those decisions.

I don't know - Ireland (or at least the trifecta) has a history of taking multiple players at the same position of need, to maximize chances of success. Think Vontae Davis and Shaun Smith, Hartline and Patrick Turner, Merling and Kendall Langford. Doubling down on young potential franchise qbs might not be the worst idea.

I could def live with that, but I don't want Manning. Manning is the system. QBs like him aren't common. All the big time QBs in the league, or virtually all, have been in systems they have been in for years and were able to mesh with the WRs and know the system inside and out. He comes in, creates the system and then we just have to destroy it and start over a few years later because our new QB is less talented at calling plays. Like I said, Manning is above and beyond. I am totally done with starting over every few years. Say no to Manning.

Although Ireland has a history of doubling up on draft picks, I do not see this happening.
I dont see Tannehill lasting past our second round pick (wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being drafted in the middle of the first round, like what happened with QB's last year), and I don't see Jeff Ireland having enough job security to just use a 2nd rounder on a player that wont come in and immediately contribute.
