Manning/Peter King

Speaking of Drew, New Orleans hasn't extended his contract yet.

Manning has had a great career but why risk bringing him to Miami knowing that one hard hit to the head could end his career and maybe put Manning in a wheelchair for the rest of his life? He's had a great career but I'd rather draft a QB in the first round next year and (whoever he is) he can battle Moore for the starter's spot in 2012.

Confirms what John Clayton said last week. Many on this site disagreed with my post/agreeing with Clayton. Now another prominent insider says he could be cut loose.

Perhaps winning these games now makes us look like a legit team for Manning to join in order to put us over the top. Just a thought.

I've had 3 neck surgeries and 3 of my disk removed and have a triple fusion ... there is no way in hell I'd take Manning .. NOT with his neck problems ... take it for what it's worth, You never get completely healthy!!! Manning is going to need a miracle to be able to play with all the procedures done on his neck ... He is risking permanent paralysis with one big hit ... no way I'm touching Manning if he is released!!!

Peyton...is still a top 3 qb.with Peyton we are guaranteed at least the afc championship.with that defense and a elite qb? I...think I would cry if this happens
If hes healthy..which is the question..no doubt he is top three. Plus I would bet Reggie Wayne would want to follow Manning...and I bet he would even take a pay cut to play with him again. Even without Wayne...Manning would have plenty of weapons here to play with

enough with drafting OL in the first!

It'd be fine if we had a quarterback back there. If we signed Manning than we'd definately need to upgrade the RT spot to ensure he makes it through a whole season.

This is Peyton Manning we're talking about here. I'd say it would be a no brainer to try and bring him in if we can.

How does our salary cap situation look for next year though? I bet he'd still want to be paid like a top 5 player in the NFL.

I have no problem with upgrading RT (actually I'm all for it) just not with our first round pick.

If we get Manning...we should take BPA in the first. Corner..Pass Rusher..OT..whoever it may be. We just need an impact player. But if we did get Manning...we should def go RT in round 2-3 or find a good one in FA

I said two weeks ago that manning could very well be cut. injuries and age do not strong faith in a player make.

Generally speaking tackles drafted in the first round are almost always "left" tackles. By the way it's looking we'll be drafting somewhere in high single digits to the low teens. There is no way you could justify paying a right tackle the kind of money that is associated with picking a player in that range. I think we still need a QB in the first, we need to look to secure the future. Anyone else would just be a stop gap. It's time to take the QB early.

With the rookie wage scale, taking a RT wouldn't be so bad in terms of money.

I want a QB in the first round btw, but in this hypothetical situation, I wouldn't take one in the first round if we got Manning. If you're going to pay him to help you make a Super Bowl than load up all the way. There is no point at making an all out attempt at a Super Bowl if you're not fully committed to it.

Agree for the most part. Dallas took Tyron Smith early last year to play RT...you know how we love to model ourselves after them haha. But I agree...Im not taking a RT unless hes the clear cut BPA...which is almost never the case

If you have a chance of getting Manning you do everything in regards to building around him with weapons, oline and guys that take the ball away on D.

Screw the development of a QB from rd 1.

A healthy Peyton Manning means you have a chance for a Super Bowl.
Bringing in a 38 year quarterback with a bad neck makes no sense.

I don't understand why some people have this fetish about 3rd string loser qb's (moore) and other teams washed up, injured trash (manning).

Nobody wants an injured Manning. What I do want is to do our due diligence...people thought Brees was done too. If he is healthy..and the Colts decide theyd rather move on with Luck...you better believe Id take a healthy Peyton Manning.
