Manning/Peter King

Nobody wants an injured Manning. What I do want is to do our due diligence...people thought Brees was done too. If he is healthy..and the Colts decide theyd rather move on with Luck...you better believe Id take a healthy Peyton Manning.

Bree's was alot younger then my friend. He was like 26 years old I think. Manning is 35, will be 36 before he plays again. Thats a HUGH difference. If manning was 26, I would chance it. Not if he is 36, no way.

With the rookie wage scale, taking a RT wouldn't be so bad in terms of money.

I want a QB in the first round btw, but in this hypothetical situation, I wouldn't take one in the first round if we got Manning. If you're going to pay him to help you make a Super Bowl than load up all the way. There is no point at making an all out attempt at a Super Bowl if you're not fully committed to it.
Even with the "scale" it still allot of money for a right tackle. FA would be the way to go, at least they have a track record in the pro's. I'd rather take a shot on a QB early

Nobody wants an injured Manning.

That's what you'd be getting. The injury he has is not something you can just rehab from. The fusion procedure that he had performed is just an attempt to strengthen the spinal column to prevent further damage. He isn't going to be the same guy and if he steps back out on the field he will be at a heightened risk of suffering a career ending injury.

And on top of that, is one offseason going to be sufficient to coach up Miami's offensive players to be as good with him as Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, et al are?

He's going to be 36. Why are we even having this discussion? Have we learned nothing from Brett Favre, a guy who was mostly healthy and whose game was sandlot ball rather than orchestrating a complex offense? If it didn't work for the Jets and Vikings, why would it work for us?

Manning is not that much older than Brandon Weeden...lol.

The people saying they do not want Manning because of his age want to take Brandon Weeden in the 1st Round...about 2 rounds earlier than anyone else has him...unreal.

I am one of the detractors but the bonus being owed changes everything. The Colts will have to release him so I wouldn't oppose signing him. Still have to focus on a QB in the draft.

In terms of age Manning is seven years older. There is no measurement in terms of Mannings health compared to Weedens but Manning could be one hit from career over, and yes, Weeden is debatedly the second best QB in this draft. I would take him in the first round.

I figured to reset some of the arguments from some of our opinions from earlier in the year.

Wrong.

Manning is not the QB for the future. But he is the ideal situation you want when drafting a QB.

Why does everyone talk about the long term? Who the **** cares? Get what you can get out of Manning which could be 3-6 great years and then deal with something after that! I can't stand when people are thinking about 10 years along the road instead of thinking about NOW. When he is gone is when we draft a qb.

Ha.....More like 3-6 GAMES. Manning is one shot in the back/head/neck area from being a paraplegic.....No Thanks. Also, whatever you think of him, he is not stupid and I don't think he'd risk his health or even if there was a slight chance of permanent injury he'd do that to his family. Either way there is NO WAY he plays 3-6 years if he comes back at all.

Get Manning, draft a QB, keep Moore, Get RT, Put shaun smith at safety, get jenoris Jenkins, go win superbowl.
