Manning put out feelers to....the Cardinals (per the redzone.org)

If the Dolphins are the only ones seriously interested or that Peyton is interested in enough to actually start talking contract, Manning has to have an idea what he's worth, roughly.

You just know that Ireland's first offer is going to be laughably insulting...

Peyton has already decided on Miami. IMHO, he is just making a few inquiries for appearance sake.
AZ is a backwater city, plus they reside in the NFC. Fitzgerald can't hold Marshall's jock.

Everyone says 12 teams reached out to Manning. Personally, I think Manning has had it down to two teams this whole time. It's either us or the Cardinals. Teams like the Skins, or Jets were never a contender.

Bingo, I think the 3 teams Manning will end up zoning in on are us, the Cards, and Seahawks. The Seahawks got hot towards the end of the year and the main reason they didn't do well is Travaris Jackson is a bad QB. But he goes there, he has a decent young OL, Lynch, Carlson,Miller, and a few young WRs with potential. The Cards love Skelton for the future, but he isn't ready to be the franchise guy (though he was better than Kolb), Wisenhunt has made that an offense that can have explosive weapons despite losing Breaston and Boldin the last 2 offseasons. Ray Horton also has that D playing very well.

We have a good run game, 3 fairly reliable WRs in Marshall/Bess/Hartline (they do drop passes, but they all have made plays when needed), a pretty good OL (honestly, if Payton can go to a Super Bowl with the OL the Colts had 2 years ago, he can do more with ours), and a decent defense.

Jets seem more like a pipe dream from the media/fans, and Harbaugh seems more loyal to Alex Smith in SanFran.

With all his money why does he need to start a bidding war? And what happened to an incentive contract? If he loves playing qb so much he would play for 5 million.

Any contract he gets from Miami will be laden with all kinds of incentives like part-ownership and coaching considerations post-career. We're one of the few teams that can pull that off and pretty much the only one in the AFC. He's flat out NOT gonna pick an NFC team, I dont know why people are still including NFC teams in their lists. You're on crack if you think Miami isn't the top choice. Even his professional peers want him here, and Peyton's not one to ignore his peers.

i live just outside of phoenix and i saw on the 5:00 am news that the cards h/c, ken wizenhunt got on a plane late last night to south florida and is scheduled to have a sit down with the manning camp today [fri] or saturday.

fox 10 news reported it and was confirmed through the finz office and the CBS morning news said the same thing.

right off the bat, as soon as it was clear manning was being released, all the significant sports reporters and writers said its going to be a two team race, miami and arizona.

the arizona "threat" is very much a reality and a real threat to miami's chances.

i am having a feeling that the manning in miami thing isnt being considered by the finz as EVERYONE thinks. for each of the good things there are with mannings possible signing with us, there are 3 negative or possible negatives to counteract them.

and this could very well be why peyton allowed such a "quick" meeting with az. and all the "he's just driving it up" talk is hooey. peyton is wealthy, he has managed his money well and is MORE than set for life. he knows he will be getting payed no matter who the team is and doesnt need, or want any drive up the price campaigns.
