)-- Manny Ramirez doesn't think he'll be traded to the Baltimore Orioles, or any other team for that matter. Now he's getting used to the idea of being in a Boston Red Sox uniform for a long time to come.
"There will be no trade, I'm staying in Boston, where I'm familiar with the system and where I have a lot of friends, especially David Ortiz," Ramirez told ESPNdeportes.com while in Miami on personal business.

The sox will get fed up with him again in the season and trade him for a pack of gum.

Wow real shocker that Manny is staying with the Sox

People don't realize Manny wanting out happens EVERY 3 months or so. This isn't big news nor should it have been. Manny will want out again in June or July and rumors will start up yet again.

I'm just waiting to hear from some people how Manny still being on the Sox is going to destroy the team or him being a cancer in the clubhouse. And how the Sox had to trade him or else.

MikeO is sure going to be disappointed. :sidelol:

"But he was going to the Mets, the 4 team deal is in the works... Damnit, now my precious Yankees have to pitch to him in 19 more games this season"

Onto this news.. this was huge for the Red Sox. Everyone was talking about leverage, well what does this do to other teams leverage? Can you say non-factor?

Not only does this get rid of an artificial deadline in regards to getting Manny out of town before Spring Training, but I believe this increases the likelyhood that a trade could work out (however, it doesn't increase the probability of a trade). The Red Sox have held strong in their position about not taking 60 cents on the dollar for Ramirez, well now any team in talks with the Red Sox about the possibility of acquiring Manny can stop lowballing the Sox.

That was the Daily News and ESPNews who reported that. I just posted links and told ya what they were saying. That's ok though, put words in my mouth....like ya always do.

I still think he is getting traded. And will take all bets from anyone here on it.

Funny that the only people not shocked by these events are the diehard Sox fans. Maybe because we have seen and heard it before. What do you want to put on a friendly wager Mike.

Mike since July you've been saying Manny is gone. That the Sox have to trade him, they have no leverage, that he's a team cancer, that everyone hates him and he hates everyone etc etc. Every Manny trade rumor you heard you posted a new thread on. You were like a 6 year old on Christmas every Manny rumor you heard and posted. It's gonna get done, done deal, getting closer.... It was very amusing.

Are you taking bets that he's going to be traded at all in his career or just before opening day? Because you kept claiming he wouldn't be with the Sox at all this year.

Could Manny be traded in a week, month, year? Sure and if he does God help us all because you'll never shut up about it. However it's just a funny situation seeing that you care so much about a lesser/2nd city team and its player.

I'll bet you that the Manny trade rumors start back up on June 28th? You wanna take the over/under on that one?

He will be traded before opening day. FOX SPORTS RADIO just reported that Manny's agent came out today and said Manny is still open for a trade.

I don't care abotu the situation, but this is a MESSAGE BOARD and we talk sports here. For 9 months out of the year its Yankees-Red Sox so when something big like this might go down, we talk about it. :shakeno: :shakeno:

I will take all bets from everyone here, we can send money have it saved in a pay pal account of a 3rd person who is impartial, and when there is a winner he can pay it out accordingly. And Im not doing no $5 or $10 bets. Let's bet real money!

Probably not going to do any. I think the Gambling Corner is done till 2006.

I might do a Super Bowl gambling corner with some prop bets though. But Im not gonna do every playoff game. Cause with only 4 games a week at most you only get 1 or 2 good "betting games". not worth a write up for that.

Yeah I saw what Manny's agent said. I think Manny's agent wants that extra 40 million in option years that's all. I put more stock into quotes from Manny's mouth over the agent. Who cares what station reports things through ESPN News has been wrong, same with the NY Post, and every other source you posted on Manny's trade rumors. Mike let the Manny thing go you obvious care about it. It's over for now, come back in June/July because the rumors will be back, they never end yet the only thing that's the same is Manny is a Red Sox.

As for this being a message board it doesn't matter to me if you talk about the Sox and are a Yankee fan, Dodger fan or whatever. Even if it wasn't a message board I wouldn't mind I love talking sports. I just think it's funny that you call me a 2nd city mentally fan because I voice my opinions on the Yankees yet from Oct to today the majority of things you talked about on the baseball boards as been talking about the Sox and their moves (again which I don't mind at all and welcome it from anyone). Just pointing that out to you because I'm sure you don't realize it :shakeno::shakeno:

Why on earth would anyone take anything Manny Ramirez says as gospel? At this point, Ramirez could stay with the Red Sox and hit 60 homers, be traded for anything from an autographed bat to Miguel Tejada, or retire from baseball to start breeding unicorns. None of those things would surprise me in the least.

Because its the biggest player that has been rumored about this offseason and nothing else has taken place. Tough to talk about the Yanks and their 1 move of Damon. What, are we gonna talk Ron Villone and Kyle Farnsworth for months on end? While they are good, they aren't shifting the balance of power anywhere! The Red Sox have been on the verge of being gutted. You don't see too many 95 win teams that are being overhauled. Theo...GONE. Damon...GONE. Manny, Clement, Arroyo, Wells....COULD be GONE! This team won 95 games and are blowing it up or want too! That is a bigger story. We talk about big stories around here. It's not that I "care" about it. The Yanks have won numerous world championships and division titles with Manny in Boston, I could care less if he stays or goes. But there is nothing else to talk about baseball wise. :shakeno:   Why is this so hard to understand!

Whatever, don't bet me. Be a pus about it. Don't put your money where your mouth is.

And you don't understand 2nd city mentaility one bit. A 2nd city mentality is when Boston would lose to KC 9-8 in June, and a Sox fan comes here and posts......well at least NY lost last night too! When a "sox" matter takes place and you just bring it back to comparing it or dragging NY in it somehow. Coming here and talking about potential trades or rumors isn't a 2nd city mentality. :shakeno: But, whatever......might as well save my breath with some of you folks.
