If we assume that Manny Wright had spent last year at college and had come out as a junior this year and suffered no injuries and posted respectable combine numbers, how high in the draft would he have gone?

Just curious to see what the draft experts here think.

Can we instead wonder how this thread would have gone if your mother had married a rocket scientist and you went to an Ivy League school?

The point there is that Manny didn't do any of those things. His status as a steal or a bust will hinge on his future performance, not some hypothetical past.

who knows? maybe god. not being a smart butthole but no one knows we only asume by round 3 or so.

Funnily enough I though by including the word "hypothetical" in the title of the post, it would have precluded this sort of response. I want to hear the wild speculation/guestimates/informed opinons of people willing to contribute to the boards.

Now how about you run along and look up the meaning of the word "pedantic"

Hey, I'll confess to being pedantic. I know what I am.

I also know that if you weren't intending on using the result of this thread to make the sickening argument that Saban is god because Manny would have been an X rounder, somebody will. It was necessary to make the point that this isn't correct. Saban took a risk nobody with a pick prior to him was willing to take, and the wisdom displayed with the pick will be based on Manny's performance.

No such thing was intended. I thought it was a nice diversion to all the trade and draft threads.

Besides the value of a draft pick is based on the perceived value at the time the pick is made, not measured by hindsight. Whether or not the pick was a good one is determined by hindsight. There's two different concepts involved.
For Example in the 2000 draft you could have spent a 3rd round pick selecting Tom Brady. However if you did you've wasted a pick because you could have drafted another potential pro-bowler in the 3rd and still picked up Tom Brady in the 5th round before New England picked him in the 6th.

Yeah it doesn't matter how you intended a thread to be or what the title is you'll get people you have nothing better to do then complain about the thread. IMO if someone doesn't want to answer a hypothetical question, then they should not read a thead with hypothetical in the title.

I really don't think he will be a bust considering most 5th round picks don't do anything, and already we have seen Manny Wright show flashes of good ability in some games. It looks like a low risk/high reward pick that Saban invested in.

Its obviously Imposssible to determine how high he would be picked, but if he put up a solid year, and with the talent so many say he has, I say the 2nd round projection was not far off. And alot of posts are Hypothetical so I have no problem with the question

Hey JJ and Pauly, why don't you guys just argue over the phone or something because this thread has just been polluted with your guys' argument. It's quite annoying actully.
