Dolphins | Wright Progressing

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins DL Manuel Wright is "one injury away" from being activated for the first time. Wright is making progress after having a shaky preseason. Wright weighs 313 pounds after reporting to camp at 335 pounds. "I've changed my technique. At USC, I basically just ran up the field. Here, I'm using my hands more and trying to develop as a player. I'm moving in the right direction."

I'm glad to see that Wright is working his *** off. I just hope that he will get a chance to play soon.

yea me too, i think we could have a very good NT(right?) for some years to come in this guy. he was good at USC although never starting, they had a sick DL and he would have started this year

Wright will be a great player for years to come. and with kevin vickerson coming back next year we should be set at DT. (who knows, maybe traylor will stick around one more year.) our defense is really just another linebacker and a Corner/safety away from being something special.

Wright probably wont be an NT type. Usually you want Nose Tackles to be shorter, fatter guys, like 6'2" ish like Larry Chester or Keith Traylor. Guys like Tim Bowens and Ted Washington can work, who are 6'4" and 6'5", but they are usually over 350 pounds.

Wright is likely going to play the same kind of role as Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holliday... Playing almost always somewhere between the outside shoulder of the guard and the outside shoulder of the tackle.

Wow, good news. For a while there I was wondering if this guy was a lost cause. I can't wait to see what he can do.

I'll tell you guys what. This guys talent was evident in the preseason, when he wasn't winded that is LOL. I taped all 4 preseason games and was zeroing in on this kid quite a bit and man is he quick off of the ball when he's fresh. I've seen him next to Josh Shaw and the Vickerson kid and there were plays where Shaw or Vickerson did a better job anticiptaing the snap count but Manny was so quick he beat them off of the ball anyway. If someone can motivate this kid he could be a fixture on our D-line for years to come.

I like your optimism in regards to Wright and Vickerson. Hopefully, you are right, although there is scant evidence to suggest how these two will develop. Besides a corner, we need a young pass rusher. JT may be long in the tooth when Saban will have them ready to contend.

Manny Right is the right man for the job .;) Good potential in this kid. Nothing but upside.

I've liked Wright since he got here.

He got a lot of negative media, both about him being out of shape and lazy, and also the crying incident. I think people were too hard on him, and honestly what he needed was support and not ridiculing. I'm happy he's doing good, and I would love to see him on the field.

Quoted for agreement. Wright should be our DT hopefully in the future. We still need a large NT...... maybe Vickerson?

i just hope he doesnt cry in da middle of the game but if hes progressing then he is da next tim bowens

I personally thought that Vickerson was way ahead of him during training camp. It is always good news that a talented young DT is making progress. Hopefully Vickerson can fully recover from that cheap shot injury he got. Maybe our D can take it our on the Falcons next week.
