any chance this kid comes back now that saban is gone the kid has talent i think no doubt?:dolphins:

I believe it was either Wright's father or agent that said he would be in camp. Hopefully being away from football for so long will revitalize him.

...or, besides being a head case, maybe he's so far out of shape due to his having been away so long that he'll take forever to become productive. Not a statement of fact; just a maybe.

hes a huge DT 6'6" and around 330 but he had weight problems. He was a 4th or 5th rd pik i believe 5th it the supp draft.

He will be back-family needs money and his second chance comes around early due to BeneNick Satan-he has potential but like many young players has to master some mental discipline to succeed-by far harder than being 6'6" 330 but we can only hope

From what I heard, Manny has been working out and is in pretty good physical condition. He has said that he wants to return to the Dolphins. Especially now that Saban is gone.

He's a DT, and was a 5th round supplemental pick in Saban's first year. He played decently in the 3 games that he was active. He needs to control his weight to become an effective rotational player...that is if he comes back without a mental breakdown this time.

control his weight? he needs to learn how to use his weight like traylor.

they need to discuss this over cheeseburgers, thousands and thousands of cheeseburgers.

I think Manny could be a heck of a player at no more then 325 pounds. It's when his weight hovers around the 350 mark that he starts getting sluggish and worn out.

Nah, he's really young, he can get in shape quick, and he is naturally strong and a great athlete. It's his sensitive heart we have to worry about. Man is he talented. He could be as good as that big mouthed guy who plays for Oakland now.

Agreed, had Wright been able to cut it academically. He would been a 1st rd pick in the following years draft. He got the total package for a DT: size strength, explosiveness, etc.

FWIW:If Cam and Caper believe Manny can contribute then he'll add some serious youth and talent to the DL, thereby making the draft of a DT a lower priority.

He has all the tools. I would make it manditory that he see a "shrink" on a regular basis just to make sure he does't have another mental lapse. I think this would help him as a player and a person. Move his family to the area if it makes him more comfortable. I don't mean to say coddle or baby the guy, but for some players the day to day mental aspects of the game and life in general are just too much for some.

Maybe the reason Manny had "mental problems" was because of the atmosphere on the Dolphins under their former head coach. From what I understand, Saban got on Wright's case early and used his nasty, intimidating, deprecating style to try to shame the kid into somehow doing better. That's not coaching; that's bullying. That might work with some players, but not with most, and obviously not with Wright. (I also noticed that JT stopped considering retirement after Saban quit, which tells you a lot about how "beloved" the Nickanator wasn't).

Hopefully, Cameron brings a better atmosphere to the Fins because they can't afford to waste picks the way Saban did. Continually getting yelled at, being mocked, and being humiliated in front of your teammates by a coach never make a player better, especially a young one. If you ever had a teacher in school who did that to you or a classmate, you know that's true.
