Manuel Wright being selected in the 2nd?!

Philly???....

Of all that teams that don't need any DL help, it's the Birdz....

I'd be very surprised to see them draft Wright that high....

PHINZ RULE!!!

well wright is also a prospect, hes not gonna come in and start right away and be great (most likely) hes a good 2 years away, by then simon could be gone and they can plug him in... its unlikely but i wouldn't be surprised if they did...

It wouldn't be a waste...they already have a complete team, they can afford luxeries.
True. Teams like the Pats and Eagles maintain their rosters by letting free agents walk and scooping up extra draft picks as compensation. They can easily afford to over pay for this player. We can't.

If it means we have to use a 2nd-3rd rd pick on Wright, you can consider me off the bandwagon.

Even if the Eagles already have talent everywhere, that stills doesn't mean that they should give up that high of a pick for him. It would be a dumb move if the Eagles use a 2nd rounder.

Word....

Overpaying by a good team is still overpaying........they just may not feel the ramifications of overpaying for longer.........but it's still overpaying.

I dunno, Philly scouts are one of the best group in the business. They drafted Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown, who were semi-no-names to replace Troy Vinceny and Bobby Taylor, who were BIG time CBs a few years back. They took a guy no one really knew about in Brian Westbrook and made the undersized RB a star..... they made the right calls on Hugh Douglas and Jeremiah Trotter, knowing they were not worth what they wanted to be paid. They got us to overpay for AJ Feeley and did not offer the Bills a 3rd rounder for a proven RB in Travis Henry, and took Ryan Moats, who the more I read about, the more it sounds like he might be a stud in their system.

Philly has made MUCH better personnel moves in the past 4 years than our organization.... even if Wright has ONLY a bad benchpress, he must have done or shown something good if Philly actually takes him with a 2nd.

Philly isnt desperate for a DT like we are, so if they take him with a 2nd then he must be worth a 2nd. This isnt a desperation pick for Philadelphia like it more so would be for us or Cincy.

They also made a huge mistake drafting Freddie Mitchell in the first over Chad Johnson, but other than that I agree.

Don't forget that some GM'S don't hold as much wieght when it comes to combines and these workouts. It matters to them but not as much as the actualy games they played.

So therefor he would be worth a very late 2nd rounder.

Basically if someone wants him they will have to give up a 2nd. He won't get too far in the 3rd.

I too hope they waste that high of a pick it makes our job that much easier...after that workout I say we spend a fourth.

Shoot before last year, when we traded our 2nd for AJ, we thought it was going to be a 'late' 2nd. A 2nd is still a 2nd. Be careful there.

I have not seen him play nor did I see his workouts. So I honestly don't know what he is "worth". However, I just really hope we do not overpay (if we do in fact try to draft him). I was just really surprised to read this especially after the news of his poor workout. Up to this point the highest I had heard was a 3rd. Then a bad workout and I figured for sure there would be talk that he'd go for no higher than a 4th. Now a 2nd?

everyone needs to chill. teams are floating rumors out there so other teams bite and overspend or overdraft. meaning they'll waste an earlier pick when they could have received the same player later.

it makes no sense for the eagles to use a 2nd rd on a him. they drafted his teammate mike patterson in the 1st rd, and have 2 solid players also at the position under contract and ready to contribute. Albeit they do have 2 holdouts at DT.
