Manuel Wright. Our 5th Round Draft Pick. And Donald Trump-class investment. Whenever he is on the field, he has harassed O-line (especially one's taught by Hudson Houck) and sometimes QB's (J.P. Losman).

So question: What position will he play in as a starter? Defensive End? Nose Tackle? Plain Defensive Tackle? Or Hybrid Taclke/End?

I'd say his quickness would get him used in more ways that a traditional dt would.

I don't think the 2006 5th round pick will be considered a wasted pick and Saban has a good head start on the next draft.

He would be better suited for NT after all hes a big guy, but since this defense uses both 4-3 and 3-4, he could be used at end in some situations.

I think that he will be more of a hybrid kind of player. In Saban's defense, he will play DT on some situations and end on other situations. I see him playing more of a end because you have to be big to play DE in the 3-4.

Manny Wright is not going to be the starting Nose Tackle for Miami. It's not a fit for his body type, or his talents. He might end up playing over Center on passing downs, or might end up there due to injury concerns, but that's not going to be his position.

He's too tall and too light. You generally want a NT to be shorter for leverage purposes, and heavier to hold the line. There are taller NTs, but generally they are huge... For example, Ted Washington is 6'5" but is 360 pounds. Terdell Sands is 6'7" but 340 pounds(And sucks). There are Nose Tackles who are around 315 pounds, but generally they are relegated to passing downs only, or are shorter and squatter.

Wright is a DT/DE. He's going to play the same kind of role as Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holiday. In the 4-3, either he'll be the Closed Defensive End(Lined up over Tackle, which Kevin Carter usually is), or the Under Tackle(Lined up on the outside shoulder of the Guard, where Vonnie Holiday usually is). In the 3-4, he'll be lined up on tackle. And like those two, on passing downs, they will line up as Defensive Tackles or Nose Tackle, whatever the case may be.

Manny's a big guy but he needs more strength and a few more pounds to become an NT. He can be a good Daryl Gardener type of DT.

If that's so, then we need a Tim Bowens.
