Manuel Wright

well i think he will be more reliable than ricky williams . that is who the focus should be on . man that was a bad interview with michele last night. i wonder if jason will be pissed if he sees the interview?

i think we need to give this kid time to get his head out of his cabose.

don't you mean head out of the cloud of smoke?

The interception was the only play that I saw him make any kind of effort at all. He looked lost out there and appeared to be dancing with the bears o-line. That young man needs someone to get on his a## and get him in gear or he could be done for.

O hyeah because all the other teams want an out of shape quitter who crys for the media when the coach is trying to light a fire under his arse!

:shakeno:

Everyone has their own developmental process.
He may not make it, but Saban isn't going to cut a college kid with potential who simply underestimated the conditioning needed to play pro ball. JMO.

... and yes another team would pick the kid up based on his potential.

Like alot of other young players on the team, he looked confused. What did you expect?

Saban and Hudson Houck are gonna make Wright cry quite a few times before he gets it right.

I think it's too early to tell yet. The kid is very powerfull and was unblockable until he ran out of gas. Admittedly he ran out of gas in just a few plays. He obviously is way out of shape. I really can't see singling him out though. How many sacks did JT have? How any tackles for ZT? How about passes defensed or ints for Madison? I don't even want to think about the O-line. Ricky had how many yards on how many carries? I think we just put last night into film study, let the coaching staff do their job and hope a lot of this can be corrected.

Ok, I have to ask. Was I high last night, or were all of you? Did Wright or did he not make a serious push on the Jason Glenn interception? Yes, the rest of the time he looked gassed, but I'm pretty sure I'm not making this up.

No, you weren't high. I saw it too. When Wright got into the game during the second half, he started out getting a good push up the middle. Unfortunately, his conditioning showed and he was tired after about three series. He definitely showed some flashes of what he could do during his first couple of series though.

So, no. You weren't high. I think a lot of people that watched this game last night, based on their comments, were high though.

That was a horrible interview last night. Everything was negative, and nothing positive to the very end. I would of fired the women who gave that. Shed positive light!

Actually she did a great job.
She asked tough questions but nothing that was out of line. I was wondering if Ricky would end up being able to handle it actually. It was a good test to see whether Ricky would hop the first plane to China to become a monk at the first sign of adversity. I haven't heard of a second retirement yet so that's a good sign.

Ok, this guy was a 5th round supplemental pick. That says to me that he probably carries 6th round 2006 value, since we probably jumped on him a round early in the supplemental to beat any other interested paties.

Given that, and the fact that some folks think he has a good bit of upside, we basically don't have anything to lose with this dude. If he continues to suck a$$, we cut him with minimal effect on the team. On the other hand, if he plays like some people think he can, we've won a proverbial watch.

Basically all I'm saying is give the man some time. It a very tiny risk for the team anyway.

Madden had a pretty good line on him. Said 'you need a motor to play in this league and this kid doesnt have a motor'. Maybe its just that he's out of shape but there is no way he should be exhausted after 2 plays. I could go a good 3 or 4 without getting totally exhausted. He was supposedly preparing for workouts for the s.draft so why is he not in shape? Sorry this kid is lazy and worthless as of right now. Can he improve? I hope so but being this out of shape even this early is downright pathetic for a professional athlete, heck its pathetic for a highschool athlete.

We didn't "jump" on him a round early. In fact, I believe Saban showed great restraint in obtaining first round talent with a fifth round pick.

Maybe "jump" was a bad word choice. However, 1st round talent or not, no other team took him earlier. That indicates that while he might have plenty of talent, his value is in the 5th or 6th round.
