First of all you have to trust Sherman.


  • He coached this kid in college.
  • He knows what needs to be worked on.
  • He will be running a similar offense.

Comparing Tannehill to Leaf shows little knowlege. Leaf failed because of his work ethic. So did JaMarcus Russel. So have countless others. At the QB position most at this level has comprable physical abilities. Yes some have stonger arms or are faster.(Tannehill has both). What seperates the crap from the good to the great is the want and the work ethic. It was said on ESPN that it was unfair because the dolphins had inside info on the kid from college.

How many times has a QB failed after having a new OC year after year. He will not have that problem. Same offense, same terminology, similar reads. It is by far the best situation for our team.

He has to tools. If he follows through and uses EVERYTHING that will be available to him he will be a success.
 
This kid choked hard in college games he better not do the same in NFL pro level. But since we are desperate for a QB I guess we just have to assume he has to be a franchise QB even though tape shows nothing of such sorts.
 
You are completely right about the importance of Sherman not only for the reasons you mentioned but also because Sherman will know the weaknesses of Tannehill and be able to work on them from day one while designing an offense that minimizes those weaknesses.
 
If being a Dolphins fan has taught us anything it's that you shouldn't blindly trust in anyone. But it can't be overstated what an advantage it is for Tannehill to come in having the familiarity with Sherman.
 
Many of you are expecting too much for him out of the gate. Why throw him to the wolves like Ponder and Gabbert were last year ?? Let him learn the Nfl speed through training camps and pre season before you wrote him off as a bust or we are stupid for drafting him. We aren't going to win anything this year so why not have a project? Philbin has been good utilizing his talent that is given to him. Green Bay wasn't a top flight offense the first two years Rodgers was the starter. Wasn't he 6-10 his first year starting in 08?

How about you relax, stop thinking like you know everything and let the chips fall where they may

You left out the 2 most important qualities in Tannehill - Character and Selflessness.
 
The only problem with this logic is that it's inconsistent. The same one's who bash Saban for his familiarity with the players from the SEC were the same one's using that exact logic to pump up Miami's picks under that regime.

The same one's using this logic to make themselves feel good about this pick are the same one's that will twist that advantage and use it against this regime when it fails and Tannehill busts.


I have no idea why you people think you're making great points here when you can't be consistent about any of it.

Let's not forget Henning was a genius that first year which is a hell of an illustration of how fickle public opinion can be. Linehan was our last universally loved OC (for good reason) but he wasn't around long enough to be made a villain.
 
It is gonna suck while all of the other teams first round picks are lightiing it up next year while Tanny is on the bench. I stayed up all night watching Tanny games trying to find some positives and change my negative opinion. Did not happen. The LSU game sums it up. This guy has bust written all over him
