MT @TomRock_Newsday: I'm told the Dolphins have also requested permission from the Giants to talk to Marc Ross about their GM opening.

This is a great interview. Excellent upside.

He is bright. Very outgoing. Young. Learned from a GREAT organization. Think of the people he has drawn ideas from.

He will be a GM someday. It is a matter of when. The question is he ready NOW and is Miami the place for him to cut his teeth?

He's promising but I'd like a strong, experienced GM to come into this situation.

Gamble would give me some faith back.

Ross would be excellent IMO.

We should stop being the team that others cut their teeth on. We need continutiy now, not gambles..No offense to Tom Gamble. We gave Saban, Cameron, and Sparano their first shots at Nfl HCing. I'm still not convinced Philbin is the guy. Idk, it's all a gamble I guess.

Marc Ross
Vice President, Player Evaluation

Biography

Marc Ross is in his first season as the Giants’ Vice President of Player Evaluation after serving the previous six years as the team’s Director of College Scouting. Ross is in charge of the Giants’ college scouting department and the team’s draft. He joined the organization on May 18, 2007 and ran his first organizational draft the next year.

Ross will also work on special projects with Director of Pro Personnel Ken Sternfeld.

Since Ross came aboard, the Giants have found important contributors both early and late in the draft, where they have selected Terrell Thomas, Hakeem Nicks, Will Beatty, Jason Pierre-Paul, Linval Joseph, Prince Amukamara, Jacquian Williams, David Wilson and Rueben Randle.

Ross came to the Giants from the Buffalo Bills, for whom he spent three seasons as a national college scout.

Ross’ first NFL job was as a public relations training camp intern with the Giants in 1995. After leaving camp, Ross worked in Columbia University’s athletics department.

Ross returned to the NFL with the Eagles’ personnel department during the club’s 1996 training camp. He was the team’s eastern regional scout from 1997 until 2000, when, at age 27, he became the NFL’s youngest college scouting director.

After seven years with the Eagles’ organization, Ross joined the Bills in the spring of 2004 as a national college scout.

I think Ross is ready. Look at the people he has learned under and drafts he has produced.

Young. Outgoing.

Really liking the names we are hearing so far that the Dolphins are interested in.

I agree albeit early on.

I did not think we would hear these names. Gamble would be a home run. However, the team has to deliver. This is not Joe to deliver. It is not on Aponte. It is on Ross. He has to come through.

The Dolphins compile the list and hopefully most if not all the candidates on the list at least agree to interview and listen to what the organization says. The Dolphins select who they think is the right person and the offer is made- if the person will only agree to come under certain circumstances (ie insisting on picking his own coach or who he reports to etc) than it's going to be all up to Ross. IMO you do what the GM you have selected has requested and put the confidence in him as the best person to lead your organization going forward.

Tom Gamble should be the choice. Much as I would like to get Wolf or Highsmith , I am afraid they may be reluctant to fire Joe Faillbin.
