With Culpepper, Harrington and an improving Cleo Lemon expected to be his three quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster, Saban said that it's too early to determine what position rookie free agent Marcus Vick will play, but that he was a "natural" at wide receiver.

"We might put him at quarterback and put him in to run some gun runs," Saban said of the former, and oft-troubled, Virginia Tech quarterback. "We might play him at wide receiver, might make him a punt returner. He said he played safety in high school."

i think it is always good to have players on your team like this who are really versitile. he is someone who especially in a couple years will be able to step in and play 3 different positions if called upon. as long as he keeps his head on straight, he will be a good role player.

I think his best shot to make the team was as a QB.

I don't think that will happen, but, I still liked that Nick
brought him in. No stone unturned in search of talent.

For the fans who have been around a while, remember how valuable Jim Jensen was to us. He mostly caught passes out of the backfield and picked up first downs but he could kick, punt, play wr, qb, safety and OLB. Dude was amazing and allowed us to save a couple three roster spots where we would have needed other role players...

I think he might make the team, but the odds are pretty high that he'll get into trouble again eventually...:shakeno:

Good point.

I think if Vick is a ligit returner, or could contribute on D in a pinch,
and catch a couple of balls, it is conciveable you could go with a 2 QB roster and, have a roster spot open for another position. That would be a great
strategic, if not tactical value.

As long as he is not slated as a QB. I am not sold on short QBs. I think a QB in this leauge should be no shorter than 6'2".Vick is like 6 even and I don't agree with that.

Right, because its impossible for anyone to ever rebound their lives and mature.....

Why shake your heads at the guy's suggestion that he THINKS he'll get in trouble again down the road? What has Vick done to suggest he can behave himself other than be on his best behavior for a few weeks while under a microscope. After hitting the low point of his life, (not being drafted), you'd think he could shape up for a little bit. The long term odds are uncertain, and it's anyone's best guess whether or not the kid can stay clean.

Actually, I think he's too versatile to ever go to prison.

I mean, he could be a jailer, parole officer, judge, lawyer, sheriff, deputy or work out at many other criminal positions.

It's simply too early to say exactly where he's going to fit best.

I hope he proves what I anticipate to be true wrong. I hope he keeps his head on straight. If he does, he could be valuable.
