Does anyone else think this is why we still have him? There's been some rumors about us trading up in this years draft. I'm just guessing because I really can't think of any other things about why we should still have him. Unless someone is really thinking about trading a 6th round pick for him, I could see us using him as some part of a draft day package to move up. Thoughts???

Of course... we have such a gap between our 4th and 6th round picks (that's 62 spots) that keeping Mare enables us to move inbetween that gap and get a player we may want. You'd have to package Mare and another undetermined pick though, depending on where exactly you'd want to move up to.

It does seem a little strange with all of the lousey kickers in the league that someone hasn't grabbed Mare, but who knows?

We got nothing in return for losing McMichael and may not get anything in return for Culpepper. So if Mare can help the Dolphins out at all in the draft it is great because its better than nothing.

I think its highly possible. For DEtroit, instead of giving us a 6th for him, he just becomes the guy they get for moving up to 2 and that is part of what we give up to get to 2. Better move IMO since we got a FG kicker. We offer our next years #1, this years 9, and another pick later this year and deal could be done if no one else is prettier than ours.

If Calvin Johnson is there at 2, I would almost have to say screw Quinn but you know thats what Mueller wants.

Olindo Mare is a kicker, and a lousy one at that.. how in the world do you guys think he's worthy of anything above pocket lint?

i dont like trading a first round next year for quinn which could fall later to 5 or 6 or even us. if we were to trade up and give up next years 1 round pick it would havce to be for calvin johnson. but that would hurt us alot in next years draft.

Mare has approximately zero trade value at this point. Teams know we aren't keeping him, so it's like it was with McMichael...if they want him, they just wait for us to cut him.

whats the chances on us keeping him and using to kickers? mare on kickoffs and feeley for fieldgoals or something to that effect... just a thought and prob unlikely!

That wont happen becuase of the salary that would be tied up in the kicker position and the fact that two roster spots would be used for kickers. Feely is just as accurate as Mare on fg's and hes not far enough behind mare on kickoffs to warrant keeping mare around.
