It's not sidestepping anything. I don't care how many people they are missing, they have been playing inspired football this year. It's not like we are the first team they beat. They were 4-2 coming into this game and they beat the Titans. You would think the Titans should have blown them out, right? Steve Air McNair.
Maybe it shouldn't come down to a last second FG, but it did. Just like the Denver game last year did. If you want to blame someone for the first miss, okay. But he missed it a second time.

Seems like Mare has problems kicking against the pats.....he can't put it through the uprights and he can't keep it inbounds on the kick-off. (last year)

Like fairbanks said we're not sidestepping anything. You have to realize that what Mare did by missing those two field goals at the end of the game is exactly like Ricky fumbling the ball in our endzone at the end of the game and NE recovers for a last sec TD or like Fiedler throwing a pick in the last second that goes for 6 the other way. Just like Lucas single handedly cost us some games last year, Mare just single handedly cost us a game.

Can I get a Sammie Smith anyone?

Instead of being 5-1 and distancing our self from our biggest rival in the AFC east and handing NE 4-3 Mare cost us the game. KC got it done yesterday against their division rival, Miami did not. This loss and misses by Mare cost us dearly and could have cost us the season.

Altho Mare should have made the second kick, we should never have been in that position in the first place. A team as banged yp as NE, and we could only score ONE offensive TD against them? This loss rests on the coaching staff and offense (or lack thereof) more than ever. Poor game planning by DW and Norv Turner. If we couldn't run against them , why not screen to Ricky? Why not keep going to Randy? It was third and 6 before the first (blocked) fg and they did a draw to Ricky?!?!? If you're not confident in having the QB throw the ball, then why do you have him in there???? Yes, Mare screwed up but that's not the whole story.

No, it's not the whole story. But a lot of people don't want to hear the whole story. The whole story is that Jay can't throw the long ball but when he throws the long ball that hits DT right in the hands it turns into an interception. The whole story is that RW gets run down from the back side by Bruschi before he even turns upfield. The whole story is the the Pats defense is batting down passes at the line of scrimmage and blocking FG's. The whole story is after Jay driving the team into FG position twice. They were missed. And finally the whole story is that instead of have Madison or Surtain covering Troy Brown we have Sammy Knight and Brock Marion. But it's time to start Griese, Right?

At last, someone who sees the big picture.

If the Dolphins are the team we want them to be, they win a game like this against a banged up team going away, not leaving it up to last second field goals.

To put the blame for this loss sqaurely on Mare, and to say he "single-handedly" lost the game is a witch hunt, and a misguided one at that. There's plenty of blame to go around for this game, not just Olindo.

And now you know... the rest of the story! But in all seriousness, this wasn't meant as a slam on Jay because in the fourth as well as the OT, he did what he was asked to do, get us into scoring position. This was a total team effort (or lack thereof).

Good news: Mare leads the league in KO average and has 10 TB's! You want the guy to kick field goals too?:D
