Has anyone seen or heard anything on Saban as to what was going through his mind when he had Mare punt???

I love football

I love comedy

I just don't like laughing at my phins...:(

In the other thread, I expressed my opinion.

I have no idea what the reasoning behind that was. The only logic I could come up with is that Donnie Jones struggles when it comes to getting the ball inside the 20 or better because he is not so accurate and his power usually takes the ball into the endzone for a touchback so I'm guessing they hoping Mare could execute a short accurate punt that could down the ball maybe inside the 15 or 10 or perhaps even better, perhaps it was also attempt to confused Tampa Bay. I'm sure Nick and our Coaching Staff weren't anticipating an 8 yard punt, but turned out to be a bad experiment gone wrong... that's the only reasoning I could honestly see behind the call, just my personal opinion. It could have been that Donnie Jones had tweaked somethingl, but I haven't heard anything about him being injured.

I was thinking some sort of fake or an attempt to draw the bucs offsides or something. I don't think it was an injury because Jones punted many times later in the game....

maybe Donnie Jones was having is foot checked by team doctors, or had his shoe off, the world may never know.

We should have gone for the 1st down ......we're on the friggin' 35 yard line and I believe it was 4th and 6......

I was very disappointed to see us not be more aggressive......worst case, if we don't get the 1st down, the BUCS still have to go 65 yards for a TD. The risk/reward factor was in our favor.....really, really, disappointing.

It happened in the Buffalo game too.....I think we punted from the Bills 38 yard line last week.

It's becoming a trend....a trend I do not like. Converting a 1st down at that point in the game could have swung the momentum in our direction.
