Mare: Missed FG Was My Fault

I also thought it was Mare's fault....he had plenty of time to swing his leg at the ball....but when the snap was high he was already in his leg wind up.....had he waited a split 2nd for the holder to get it down he would have nailed it....Mare rushed it and hooked it.....the whole game it seemed like we were down by 10 rather than 7, but we should have scored a TD and not have had to bring in Mare.

Mare needed to trust Donnie to get the ball down. If he had just followed through with the kick he probably would have made it. Instead he decided the best thing to do was jam his toe into the turf a few inches in front of the ball. Whatever, I'm not gonna dwell on it, I'm sure he'll make some clutch kicks over the course of the seaon and make up for it tenfold.

Mare job is on the line and he better start getting it down. But it was cool for him to go out and say that it was his fault on this.

He stood up like a man and admitted it was his fault (didn't see it listened on the radio), I don't think he's on the hot seat yet, he's made some long kicks for us in the past, don't want him to go.

I'm glad he took full responsibility for that missed kick because it was his responsibilty. He gets paid big buck not just to make the easy kicks, but to do a good job when things go awry. The snap was high but it could have been 3 points if Mare had been patient in his approach. Who knows how those 3 points could have changed the momentum and possibly the outcome of the game. Hopefully he will correct that problem and be an awesome kicker for us the rest of the year.

Very cool of Mare to stand up and take responsibility ... could of been easy to say .. with a new snapper and a new holder we are still working on our timing etc ... but he said .. the ball was snapped high ... but got placed and he rushed it. Very Cool in my book.

hmm... somebody who could easily cast blame on others instead puts it on himself... hmm...

imo....it looked on the replay like the ball wasnt "laces out". it looked like to me that the laces were facing to the right, hence the ball hooked right

I didnt see whether the holder was able to spin the ball "laces out" or not, but there was no heavy rush by the Jets.....we had all day to kick it and Mare just needed to slow it down a bit and then hammer it. I dont think the kicker can worry about the snap he needs to focus on nailing the football once the snap is there and the holder has it down. Ohhh well, gotta focus on Carolina.

I think it is very cool he accepted responsibility, but he is overpaid and has been missing too many kicks that are clutch. It's nice to apoloigize, but it doesn't make everything better.

He is on the hotseat IMO.

it good that he took responsibility - and after he missed it i remember him cheering on the d as he walked off the field - like he was pissed and was trying to fire up the d

he seems to be getting worse and worse every year.
