I propose this question, b/c I have no clue to kicker value and who needs one.

Is it possible we can get a pick for Mare (if so what round & with whom)...I just dont want another player being release with no comp (R.McMike & Harrington).

I don't see us getting anything for him. We just signed Feely and gave him guaranteed money, every other team knows we'll cut Mare eventually.

I like Mare better than Feely honestly and they are making near the same amount of money.

I would just let them battle it out in camp and cut one of them. No-one will trade for either because they know we won't carry two kickers and one will be cut.

I'm having mixed thoughts on the Feely signing. Sure he's a better FG right now, but he has a hefty cost and all but eliminates us drafting a young kicker. I don't think we get anything for Mare since everyone knows we can't keep both and will eventually drop him. But K needy teams like Atlanta, Washington, Dallas, NY Giants (ironically), and the 49ers may look at Mare.

I think we should trade both and draft Medlock :D

maybe a team that scores a lot of points and has a good offence will take him. I guess if the team really cares if a lot of touchbacks is worth alot then go ahead and take him. he would be awsome for San Diego because he would either not have to kick or kick really short ones sooooo O well. Good Bye and won't miss you much unless Feely does worse than you did.

Honestly Since Mare missed those 2 kicks in the NE game 2 years ago, I've wished he would leave. How do you miss 2 kicks inside the 40! Now Mare has given us some great years and boy does he have a strong leg it just seems to not be as clutch as some other kickers.

Have you tried to kick from inside the 40 like he has? Yes, I know you aren't paid to do so like he is. But he's human and bound to make on the job mistakes, just like everyone else. I bet he feels bad each time he misses a kick.

Actually I have not tried with and NFL ball but a CFL yes I can. I was QB for my university in Canada and backup kicker (was also goalie in soccer) inside the 45 I had a very good average. I did lack the distance to make it a career.

Now I do understand he is human and we all have our bad days but I still think that was the #1 reason we did not make the playoffs that year.

* CFL ball actually get more distance then NFL balls.

We may be able to snag a 5th or 6th for him. Look to teams with later picks in the round, and desperate for a solid kicker.

KC is the only place i'd see him going in a trade. (they were also in the hunt for feely.) i'd say we'd get a 6th rounder at best however it could be something involving trent green as well.

I think we should have cut Mare and attempted to resign him for 2 mil/ year before going after Feely.

thanks, I believe from observing the board and looking at the value drafting a kicker a 6th Roung would be just especially to a team who has a comp pick (as stated KC if they get one)

I think he probably ends up the same as McMichael, no picks just a cut. Who's the Rams kicker? Linehan seems to like our leftovers
