I agree completely that he needs to go. My question is who to replace him? I don't want Vanderjagt (or however you spell his name) and I hate the idea of wasting a draft pick on a kicker, we're down at least one from the Joey trade. So whose availble?
 
You spelt his name right but the only way we get a good kicker or one for the future will be through the draft and should be Mason Crosby, we can always trade a player we don't need for a 5th round pick which sounds reasonable.

We gave up a 6th for Joey but if he took 35% of the snaps that pick would turn into a 5th rounder but what I was saying that the Fins could trade someone to another team for a 5th rounder.
 
someone mentioned that he would be available and I would sign him in a heartbeat...Josh Brown of Seattle.
 
You know what's gonna happen with Mare...he's gonna go to another team and kick awesome...I think he's in a slump and he lost all his confidence and loses more and more with every missed kick.
I think he's still an awesome kicker but in a slump...it happens to kickers all the time. Alot of kicking is mental..alot like golf.
 
To me, a kicker is a kicker. It'd be nice to have a solid guy like Mare had been or Stoyanvich was. But not every team has a "great" kicker. I can live with finding a decent one for now. Kickers can also be experimental. If one doesn't work out, you can find another one and you DON'T need to draft one.
 
I think we should waive Mare tommorow. Then, we should sign Vanderjagt, another free agent, or let Wes Welker kick. We are going to get a new kicker next year anyway, and why wait till then. It would also give everyone a heads up, saying that they could also be removed from this team if they don't do their job.

But what FAs are out there? Besides Vanderjagt, who was allready cut for the same reasons! That was the original point of my post...

I hate to admit it, but today I actually mumbled the follwing prayer when Mare came up for the FG try:

"Please God, let Welker kick it....amen." :wink:
