A magazine compiled a Top 50 Quarterbacks list that has Joe Montana first, Dan Marino eighth and Bob Griese 19th.

I'm not going to argue. That, of course, is the aim of any list like this. Debate is a staple of sports, and we're in the era of lists just like this across all society.

If you Google "Top 50 Lists" you get 272 million responses. Among the first listed are Fortune's 50 most admired companies (Apple is No. 1), a brewery association's top 50 breweries' list (Boston Beer), the Top 50 movie endings (Dr. Strangeglove) and even the best movie trailer (Alien nips Psycho).

His lack of a Super Bowl ring IMO gives everybody a reason to rank him below other QB's . . . but there is no doubt Marino was the greatest "pocket passer" of all time.

Actually suprised Brett Favre is below him.

Boomer Esiason 32nd?
Over
33. Kurt Warner
34. Joe Theismann ( just to name a few)

You have to be kidding.
Boomer should not even be on this list.

List is void....just for that reason.

If he had Elways running game at the end you could switch him and Dan on that list.

I don't give a damn about the rings...Marino didn't play defense...He is #1...period!!!

Clearly their top determinant was championships, as everyone above Marino has at least one, and all except Manning have more than one. No way game managers like Starr and Bradhshaw should have been ranked higher thaan Marino.

Anyone that would put Bradshaw in the top 5 is completely retarded.

I agree with you. Dan was probably the best pure passer ever. I think he could be a couple spots higher, but absolutely not at the top.

The only factor that should matter is which QB in their prime would you put on a team.

I would have marino in the top 4 behind Montana, Manning, and Unitas.
