I'm surprised this hasn't been posted. Marino was on today on Mad Dog and they talked about Tannehill. Marino likes him and has been impressed with his development. He says the change this year to a new OC would have been tough on even a vet QB and Tannehill did well with it. He added Tannehill was smart and tough. He didn't come out and say "Tannehill is the Dolphins future", but that is only because he wasn't asked a question that would return that answer, but by the praise he gave there is no doubt he felt that way. This is the first I have heard him talk this much about Tannehill although I'm sure in Florida it might not be news to you (I'm in Texas).

On the disapointing side I think he backed off the Brady and Patriots criticism, he still spoke as if he looked down on it but wasn't real critical. I however have found over the past ten days that guys looking for for "better" employment, such as guys who are interviewing for coaching positions, tend to hold back in criticizing the NFL or Patriots, no doubt not wanting to rub people the wrong way. I think Dan is the same way, I'm pretty sure he isn't eager to get on the bad side of the NFL while he is stuck on the outside of all the big TV personality gigs.

Thank you ~ I think Dan has nothing to fear backing Tannehill (big egos sometimes make it hard for athletes) Miami will always be behind Dan

It is apparent that Tom Terrific's feeling were hurt (someone poked his heart) Dan knowing that TB has small hands doesn't want to pile on ~ some smallish handed QBss need to let roughly 2 PSI out of the football no biggee :foundout:

Wow! You actually took the time to look for an article from 5 years ago...

I don't know what his motivation was to find that article, but he makes a good point. Dan Marino works with the Dolphins and is by all accounts the face of the franchise (along with Don Shula) . . . if asked a question about Tannehill (a QB) he knows his answer is going to be looked at more than a beat writer asking a defensive player in the locker room. Dan Marino is more than likely going to show his support for Tannehill or any current young QB that Miami is trying to develop . . . hell he gave Henne more praise in that article than he gave Tannehill on the radio show . . . so Dan has obviously learned not to be as strong about something, especially if he isn't sure.

None of this means anything though, the only thing that matters is results on the field, and year 4 for Tannehill, we gotta get more than 8 wins as a team.

And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off

As a team. To pin it on Tannehill alone is near sighted and foolish. We won 11 games with Jay Fiedler...but I'm sure some on here probably think Fiedler was a better QB than Tannehill is...forgetting that the defense (which Jimmy Johnson put together) was carrying the team then with Jason Taylor, Tim Bowens, Ogunleye, Pat Surtain, Sam Madison, Zach Thomas and the rest of that defense. Not to mention Wannstedt giving Rick Williams 350+ carries a season.

I would have been more surprised if he had said somethi negative. Marino NEVER says anything negative about anybody.

Exactly...some of the Patriot apologists don't get that....not to mention friendships that have been built...avoiding awkwardness at golf tournaments should Brady get away with it somehow etc etc etc..............

Its kind of like staying out of the middle of a fight between a couple you know.............because if they get back together it can be awkward.

I think Dan is playing the game....he knows that nothing he says is going to effect the outcome...and in the end he is playing it safe.

Troy Aikman, Mark Brunnell, Fran Tarkenton and others are not.

Heard it also , he wanted to make people aware of the fact that tannehill played in the same system through college and his first two years and that he did pretty darn well adjusting .

I'm glad he laid off of Brady . I don't think it's dissapointing at all. I love the dolphins but everyone wants to go and bash the Patriots for doing whatever it takes to win . Dan Marino stated that all qbs do the same damn thing even him..... Also there is no glory in losing . Everyone wants to sit here and act like there's something to "losing like a class a organization " . There isn't ..... The only thing it brings is a whole lot of fishing and threads like these. Hell philbin should switch out the balls for some nerfs..... Who gives a ****

Nonsense.....breaking the ball in is a far cry from deflating it.

And the Patriots are the team that got dramatically better at not fumbling following the 2006 season....not everyone else.

Bury your head in the sand if you like...its popular now days.....but this isn't going away and Marino is just being political and staying on everybody's good side.

Pretty sure Marino also lauded Henne...so there's that...

Im sure there arent any pats fans that are even worried about that . Theyve been to 6 superbowls under Bill And Tom now And Theyve own our division every year except when Brady got hurt. You can blame that on whatever you want ... But they sure as he'll would have been better than us and won the divsion with ANY football. Don't act like this team hasn't just been flat out better than us . So no ..... I don't think an underinflated football made them the great team they are . People are trying to make it seem that way which is flat out "nonsense".
