MARINO DROPPED FROM INSIDE THE NFL

Posted by Mike Florio on July 6, 2008, 10:27 p.m. EDT
As expected, the folks at Showtime have relied primarily on talent from its sister network, CBS, to staff the Inside the NFL operation.
But one key figure from the CBS on-air lineup won’t be joining the new effort.
Per Michael Hiestand of USA Today, James Brown, who hosts The NFL Today on CBS, will also host the long-running weekly highlights show. Joining him will be CBS lead game analysy Phil Simms. And making the jump from HBO will be Cris Collinsworth.

Ok well i dont know how many people have Showtime. I dont, and i'm guessing many HBO subscribers dont. So if Inside the NFL lasts as long on Showtime as it has on HBO i'd be shocked anyway, who cares if Marino leaves.

Showtime? Is that still in business?

showtime has some great shows dexter, weeds. californication, and brotherhood

Yep, I watch all of those shows religiously, except brotherhood. Dexter is one of my favorite shows of all time. These guys have no clue.

But I digress. How come the article makes no mention of Chris Carter and Bob Costas getting dropped from the show, too? Because its the darn media trying to get a rise out of people, criticizing the best pure passing QB of all time. Marino should move on to the NFLN. That would be sweet.

I like Marino as much as the next Dolphins fan, and I think everyone knows how good he was.

Maybe he just isn't a favorite of people to listen to. I honestly think there are better commentators than Marino, but that doesn't mean I don't like seeing him on television. He'll score somewhere else and I'll watch him from time to time there regardless. Also, Cris is useless, Bob Costas is far better than Collinsworth. Collinsworth is only good for slobbering all over the Patriots or whatever team is doing well, then finding himself and his wild claims in a corner when Bob asks him, "What happened?"

Also, Showtime is actually stepping it up. Someone just listed all their great shows, on top of boxing matches. Anyone who says Showtime doesn't have anything is out of their mind, so fantastic shows are on that channel now. If you haven't heard of programs such of The Tudors, Weeds, Californication, Dexter, Penn & Teller, and Brotherhood... I dunno. :err: Not saying I watch all of them, but I personally love Californication and found Weeds entertaining sometimes. I'd like to catch more Penn & Teller, but it's not a big deal.

I really did like the original Inside the NFL, hands down the best show to recap the week that was out there. Who knows what it'll be like now. NFL Network isn't too bad for those of us who recieve it as part of our satellite package. I like Total Access and how frequently it is on, it's a nice little show that you can skim all day while bored since it's rerun... ALL DAY. It's a pretty brainless channel actually.

So basically they're saying is that they're putting the CBS crew onto the Showtime version of Inside the NFL.
Guess that means I won't be watching that show either. No big loss. I have the internet.

I'm amazed that Cris Collinsworth has been an "NFL analyst" as long as he has. The guy is absolutely awful.

are you kidding me...Collinsworth is probably one of the top analysts/commentators working right now... if you actually listen to him he's pretty sharp and insightful
