Well we tried that once, didn't we? And look where it got us. He didn't want to be involved when Wannspeil was here, now he obviously believes Saban will turn it around and wants to be a part of that. Pass.

Marino's quote: "I'm not sure that's going to be in my future anytime soon.''

That might be 10-15 years down the line. And who knows, Saban could be long gone at that point.

I'd love to have him back someday. Anyone that believes he ditched us before needs to pull their head out of their butt. He was obviously not comfortable with being a figurehead and wanted actual input on the team.

Maybe QB coach when Garrett becomes OC.

Aren't superstar players usually bad coaches? Expectations of performance too high.

And I've read dozens of times Marino did not do the things that would make a good coach, i.e. study film, study intricacies etc. He didn't study the game is what I've heard. Sleeping in meetings and fim sessions. Greatest passer of all time and he didn't study. I heard in his second or third year the discussion was coverages and he didn't know a damn thing haha.

An article about Damon Huard and the QB's he's played behind (Marino and Brady) and he said best passer ever was Marino. Period. Then he told a story where he asked Marino about reading coverages and Marino looked at him and said, "Just pick your guy and let it rip."

Haha some funny stuff but not things that would make a great or even good coach. I think his position would be in the FO somewhere.

Marino is not going to give up a high priced gig to be a damn QB coach. He will only be in a very high team position such as President like Matt Millen or something similar. This just doesn't happen with guys of this so called status.
I don't think anyone offered Jordan an assitant coach job becuase they knew he made too much money to take such a cut.

Also what has Garret done to deserve a promotion.

is there a reason why some of u want Garrett to be OC? hes a young guy who was a backup QB...what makes him a good candidate for OC??? How about we put DAN THE MAN MARINO as our OC???

No not as a QB! :

"Yes, I might like to get back involved in football, I really do," he said. "I like what I'm doing now and it's fun … But you don't get that satisfaction of being part of a team and working for a common goal to win and all that stuff is stuff that you miss. It never leaves you.''

Dan's always welcome back with the Dolphins whether it be owner, GM, coach, OC, Executive, scout, player, waterboy, janitor, security guard, hot dog vendor, etc.
